Initial use Remove the case cover on the back of the device to insert the SIM card(s), the battery and a memory card. Press the casing cover and slide it downward until it can be removed (Fig. 1). Initial use Note: Stickers with arrows are affixed to the charger connector and the charger cradle. The two arrows must be pointing at each other when the connector is plugged into the charger cradle. Phone controls Display Selection of the functions displayed in the bottom keys left and right (different depending on phone sta- tus). In standby, access to the main menu (left Display key) and access to Contacts (right Dis- play key). Dial key Used for dialling after entering a number, accept- ing calls whilst the phone is ringing.
Phone controls Controls on the back This is where the emergency button and loud- speaker are. Pressing the emergency button for about 2 sec- onds activates the emergency function. Please refer to the "Emergency" section for a description of this func- tion.
Phone controls Controls on the right On the right side, you'll find the connection jack for the headset, along with the micro USB jack. The micro USB jack is used to charge the battery with the power supply unit or with the USB cable on the computer. Features on the underside The underside has the contacts for the charger.
Display symbols Display symbols The signal strength of the wireless network is displayed on the left of the display and the battery charge status on the right. Additional symbols are displayed depending on the particular situation. Symbol Description Signal strength of the wireless network. In dual-SIM mode, the left-hand symbol shows the signal strength of the SIM1 network, the right-hand symbol that of the SIM2 network.
General information on using the phone General information on using the phone The left and right Display keys have different functions depend- ing on the status of the device. The functions currently available for the keys are shown above the keys on the display. The right-hand Display key is usually used to cancel the function or to go back one step.
An ergonomic telephone should be simple to use and make commu- nication more easy for the user. At the same time it should also meet your needs, however individual they may be. The tiptel Ergophone 6020+/6021+ enables you to customise the phone to your needs in a special way.
Do you also want to see as well as hear who is calling? "Tell" this to your tiptel Ergophone 6020+/6021+ by adding a picture of the caller to the memory under Contacts. It is then shown on the display for incoming and outgoing calls.
Custom setup Making calls as you want to Want the phone to verbally repeat digits as you enter them to check you are entering them correctly? "Tell" your tiptel Ergophone 6020+/6021+, under Settings Phone settings Tone settings Keypad, that you would like to enable "Talking keys".
Dual-SIM Dual-SIM The tiptel Ergophone 6020+/6021+ is available in two versions. For use with one or two SIM cards. The dual-SIM version can of course also be used with just one SIM card. You can tell which version you have by the "Dual-SIM" specification on the outer packaging.
Dual-SIM Incoming calls When the phone is in standby, it rings for both calls on SIM1 and calls on SIM2. You can set up the ringtones for both SIM cards separately in Phone settings Tone settings. Note: If a call is being made with one of the two SIM cards, you are not notified of a call on the other SIM card.
Making and accepting calls Making and accepting calls Accepting calls With an incoming call, the phone rings (provided the "Silent" profile is not enabled) and vibrates (provided vibration is enabled in alert type). The caller number is shown on the display. If the caller having the number is stored in Contacts, the name of the caller is displayed in- stead of the number.
Making and accepting calls Dialling with redial function Pressing the green Dial key without first entering a number when the phone is in standby opens the call log. It shows you recently di- alled numbers, and the calls you have accepted and missed. With the keys, you can scroll up and down the call log.

Contacts Contacts A contact consists of a name and the corresponding call number; it structures your phone book for calling sub- scribers and sending short text messages. To access the contacts, press the right Display key when the phone is in standby. The contacts are opened. You can also access the contacts via the main menu, under "Contacts".
Contacts Send message Select "Send message" from the Options menu to write a short mes- sage (SMS) to the contact. Add new contact You can create a new entry with "Add new entry". Both "Name" and "Number" open. For contacts on the SIM card, "Name" and "Number" are available to enter.
Contacts Use "Associate ringtone" to select a ringtone other than the default ringtone for a contact. Tip: You are also able to assign a recorded voice file as a ringtone, such as "William is ringing". This voice file can be recorded with the sound recorder integrated in the phone.

Contacts Note: The "Main contacts" option for setup is only available in "Advanced mode". The main contacts configured are shown in the "Beginner mode" user setting at the start of the contact list. In "Advanced mode", access the contacts, and then the options using the left Display key , and there "Main contacts".
Messages (SMS) Messages (SMS) Your phone enables you to receive and send short text messages (SMS). Viewing received messages When you receive a message (SMS), it's announced to you on the display, and the blue LED with the envelop at the front of the tele- phone begins to blink.
Messages (SMS) The recipient window opens, in which you may chose, at the top, to enter the recipient number manually, or to add it from the contacts or the caller list. Silent mode Silent mode You can enable and disable Silent mode with the "Silent mode" setting in the Main menu. Calls and messages continue to be received in Silent mode but the phone does not ring. This setting should always be used when others would be disturbed by the phone ringing.
Call history Call history Pressing the green Dial key when the phone is in standby accesses the call history, with all calls dis- played in one list (dialled, received and missed calls). You can view the individual "Missed calls", "Dialled calls" and "Received calls"...
Camera Camera Open the camera function via the "Camera" item in the main menu, or directly via the camera key on the keyboard. Note: A memory card (not included in the delivery) is required to use the integrated camera. The Ergophone 6020+/6021+ supports Micro-SD memory cards up to 16 GB (available from the accessories market and in electronics stores).
Camera the memory (telephone memory or memory card) from which you want to view the images. When one of the images appears on the display, you can show the next with the key, or the previous with the key. You can de- lete the currently displayed image with the left Display key , or end the display with the right Display key...
Magnifier function Magnifier function Your telephone features an integrated magnifier, which is opened with the magnifier key on the keyboard. Hold the camera on the back of the phone up close to the object you wish to show magnified. Make sure you do not cover the camera lens.
FM radio FM radio Your phone features an integrated FM (VHF) radio. It can be accessed from "FM radio" in the Main menu. Note: A headset must be connected to listen to the radio. When you turn the radio on, the station last tuned is selected. You se- lect the previous or next saved station with the key.
FM radio Note: The automatic search overwrites the station list. Loudspeaker With this function, in addition to the headset, sound can be repro- duced over the speaker integrated in the telephone. Additional options "Advanced mode" also provides you the option of manually entering a radio frequency.
Sound recorder Sound recorder The sound recorder enables you to record memos to be saved in the device memory or on a memory card. To do this, select "Sound recorder" from the Main menu. key enables you to start, pause and resume a new record- ing.
Sound recorder Note The internal device memory can only store a few short recordings. If you want to make recordings more fre- quently, inserting a memory card is recommended. If a memory card is inserted in the phone, the audio quality should be set to "High".
Alarm Alarm To use your phone as an alarm, open "Alarm" from the main menu. Five alarms are displayed. With the keys, you can select an alarm and edit its settings by pressing the left Display key In Settings, you can switch the alarm on and off and set wake-up time, ringtone and type (ringing, buzzing or both).
Calculator Calculator To use your phone as a calculator, open "Calculator" from the main menu. Use the keypad numerals to enter the numbers for the calculation. To enter decimal places, enter a decimal point with the key. Arithmetic operators +, -, x, / and = are selected using the keys.
Tasks Tasks This menu option enables you to set up tasks about which the telephone can remind you later. Accessing this menu option shows a list of tasks configured. The options enable you to add new tasks and ed- it/delete existing tasks. If you add a new task or edit an existing task, enter a date, time and subject.
Services Services Services offered by your provider are available in this Main menu option. Just which services are provided depends on your service provider, from where you can also obtain a description of the functionality and costs of the services on offer.
Bluetooth Bluetooth Your Tiptel Ergophone 6020+/6021+ is compatible with Bluetooth headsets and hands-free kits. The function can be enabled and disabled from this main menu option. The service life of the battery reduc- es when Bluetooth device compatibility is enabled. You should there- fore disable this function when it is not being used for a longer time.
Settings Settings Most of your phone settings are configured in this menu option. The Settings menu has several sub-menus that also have sub-categories for settings. Your phone is supplied with convenient default settings so that you need only customise individual settings when needed. Only a few setting options are available in the "Basic"...
Settings Talking keys A special function on this device is the set of "Talking keys" - these can be enabled with "Tone settings" "Keypad". If "Talking keys" is enabled, the phone announces the digits pressed. Volume Here, you set the volume for ringer and key tone. Alert type You can set here whether the phone rings, vibrates or does both sim- ultaneously, or vibrates first and then rings.
Settings Extra tone Here, you can enable and disable warning and connection tones. Answer mode Here, you can specify whether the telephone should automatically accept incoming calls when cover is opened, or if any key is pressed. Idle screen display Here you can select your own image as the wallpaper in standby, and specify whether date, time and your own number are displayed.
Settings Security settings Here you specify whether a prompt is issued for the PIN stored on the SIM card (code, password) when the phone starts up; you can also change this setting. "Advanced mode" enables you to set up a lock on the phone in addi- tion to blocking the SIM card.
Settings Visibilty main menu The main menu also makes available functions that perhaps you do not need. If you do not use the alarm, the tasks and the calculator for example, these functions can be hidden in "Visibility main menu". When you open this menu item, all main menu items are displayed to be individually activated or deactivated.
Settings Emergency settings The settings for the emergency function are configured here. Please refer to the "Emergency" section for a description. Dual SIM settings You can set here whether both SIM cards inserted are active or only one. Network settings Here, you specify whether connection to the GSM network occurs au- tomatically or manually, and whether a GPRS connection is always set up, or only as needed.

Settings The phone password (factory setting ) must be entered to reset the phone to the factory settings.
Connection to a computer Connection to a computer Connect the telephone's micro USB jack to the USB port on your computer. "Mass Storage" is shown on the display. Press the left Dis- play key . Now the memory integrated in your phone and any memory cards inserted are displayed on your computer as new de- vices with exchangeable media.
Emergency call Emergency call Your phone features an emergency function with confirmation, acti- vated by pressing the emergency key on the back of the device for about 2 seconds. The unacknowledged emergency call does not check whether the voice at the other end is a person or an answering machine, and should therefore only be used when a contract with a professional emergency call service is in place that ensures there is always help available from a person on the emergency number entered.
Emergency call not accepted, the phone calls the next emergency number stored. If a connection to a person cannot be established on any of the emer- gency numbers, the phone repeats up to three times in succession all emergency numbers entered. If confirmed emergency call is not set, the emergency call is ended after a connection is established.
Emergency call Emergency call configuration To configure emergency calling, it must be enabled and the emer- gency text and numbers must be entered. With the phone in standby, select the left Display key, then "Settings" in the main menu and then "Emergency settings". This is where all the settings for configuring emergency calls are.
Emergency call Note: If you enable SMS for numbers of telephones that cannot receive SMS text, the service provider calls the subscrib- er and reads out the SMS. This call would block the emergency number telephone at the very moment the mobile telephone is trying to make the emergency call.
Emergency call Cancelling an emergency call If an emergency call is made inadvertently, it can be cancelled in full with prolonged pressing of the red hang up key . If you press the red hang-up key only slightly, the phone will disconnect this call but will start with the next number anew.
