IV. PRE-INSTALLATION PREPARATION
This appliance may only use the Direct Vent Chimney System Required with the Unit
and MUST NOT be connected to a chimneyflue servicing a separate Solid Fuel or Gas
A. VENT SYSTEM APPROVALS
Approved vent system terminations are labeled for identifi-
cation. Two separate 3" diameter listed flexible aluminum
or stainless steel gas vent is used for both exhaust and
incoming combustion air and must be run up through the
fireplace chimney and terminated vertically. Horizontal ter-
minations MUST NOT be done. Follow the vent manu-
facturer's installation instructions in conjunction with this
manual.

C. GAS PRESSURE
For natural gas, the minimum inlet gas supply pressure is 4.5
inches water column, and the maximum inlet gas pressure is 7.0
inches water column, for the purpose of input adjustment. Input
rate is 30,000 - 21,000 Btu/hr. For Propane Gas, the minimum
inlet gas supply pressure is 11.0 inches water column and a
maximum 14.0 inches water column. Input rate is 28,000 - 22,000
Btu/hr.
Manifold pressure for this Fireplace Insert Room Heater is 1.7 -
3.5 inches water column for natural gas and 6.3 - 10.0 inches
water column for propane gas. This Heater has a variable adjust
manifold.
Pressure taps are located on front of the valve for both inlet and
outlet pressures.
D. HIGH ALTITUDE INSTALLATION
For U.S. installation, this appliance has been tested and
approved for elevations from 0-2000 feet.
When installing this appliance at an elevation above
2000 feet, it may be necessary to decrease the input
rating by changing the existing burner Orifice to a small-
er size. Input should be reduced 4 percent for each

1000 feet above sea level. Check with the local gas

utility for proper Orifice size identification and to see
if the gas in your area has been deregulated. This
appliance is shipped with a .106 in./2.64 mm Orifice
size on Natural Gas versions and a .063 in./1.60 mm
Orifice size on L.P. versions.
For Canadian installation, this appliance is certified for
elevations from 0-4500 feet. When installing this appli-
ance at an elevation between 0-4500 feet in Canada,
the input rating does not need to be reduced.
When installing this appliance at an elevation above
4500 feet in Canada, check with local authorities.
Consult your local gas company for assistance in deter-
mining the proper Orifice for your location or refer to
ANSI Z223.1-latest edition, Appendix F.
