The
recorder

Adiustment-
To
adjust
the

mum frequency response, make the following
ad-
justment:
1.
Remove
the
rear
escuteheon
(12)"
2.
Properly thread an
alignment
tape
or
a
good
recorded
tape
on
the
machine.
3.
Set
the controls
as
described under
"To play
Recordings".
4.
To
adjust
for
maximum output
of
all
fre-
quencies, loosen bracket mounting screw (42A)
and
rotate bracket
slightly until
maximum output
is
ob_
tained. Tighten screws
(42A)
after
adjustment.
To
adjust
for maximum high-frequency
response
onearlyproductiongrip
the
vertical portion
of
the
re-
cord,/playback head
mounting
,bracliet
with
a
pair
of
long-nosedpliers.
Rock the mounting
bracket
and
re-
cordheadfrom
side
to side
slighily until
the
maximum
high frequencies are obtained.
Bend
the bracket with
the pliers to
obtain a permanent
set at
this position.
To adjust
for
maximum high-frequency
response
on_
late production
(see
figure
2)
turn adjusting screw
(428)
as required until
the maximum high-fr6quency
output
is
obtained.
Pressure
Pad
Adjustment-

Remove the

escutcheon

The
test

Hum
Control Adjustment-
It
is very
important
for
recording
purposes that
the hum control
be correctly adjusted"
Hum that
is
present during
recording
will
be
amplified during
play-
back.
To
set the hum control
turn
the
unit "On"
and
allow
the
tubes to
warm up,
advance
the
volume control
to
approximately
mid-position and adjust the
hum
control
(R3)
for
minimum
hum.

the

head

see
if it
is parallel
with
the tape.

Brake
Shoe
Adjustment-
1.In order
to adjust
the
brake shoes, the com-
plete
mechanism
must
be removed
from the carrying
case
and
the
speakers disconnected.
2.
With
all
push
buttons
in the
up
position
the
brake
shoes
(68) should
clear the
drums
by
approximately
1/8".
3"Depressthe "Stop"
button
while observing
the
brake shoes.
Both
brale
shoes
must
contact the
drums
at
the
same
time
and
with
equal
pressure.
4.
The adjustment
is
accomplished
by
bending
the spring
arm
(6?).
