LUBRICATION
All
moving
parts in
this
recorder
were
perman-
ently
lubricated at time of manufacture.
Under
normal
use
further
lubrication should not be
required.
In
heavy-duty
service,the following parts
should be
lub-
ricated
onee a
year
with
a
drop of
#10
motor
oil:
1.
The top
and
bottom motor bearings.
2.
The top
and
bottom
flywheel
(?1)
bearings.
3.
Pressure
roller
(44)
bearing.

(71).
A
weak
spring
(63),
binding slide,
or
beht
arm miy
prevent
this.
2.
Idler
wheel
(60)
must
be
free
toslide. It
may
be
necessary to increase tension
on
idler spring
(bS).
3.
Check
for oilondrive gurfaces.
If
necessary,
clean
with
alcohol.
4.
Cheek
that pressure
pads
are
disengaged.

wipe excess
lubricant from
parts

have
been
Iubricated.

wheel
bearings.

Checkleftandrightreelspindles.
Thebrakes
should
be
disengaged
or
held
away
before
turning spind-
les.
5.
Motor
bearings.
Check
by turning shaft
by
hand.
Check
to
see
tlat:
1.
Supplyreel
is freeto
rotateand
is notscrap-
ing
top plate.
2.
Rubber
belts
(110)
touch
motor pulley
(11?)
only
when
in
"Rewind" position.
3.
Brakes are released.
4.
Pressure
roller
(44)
is
making
good
contact
with
eapstan.
5.
Capstan
is
clean.
Check
for irregularities:
1.
Idler
wheel
surfaces.
2.
Presgure
roller
(44)
surface.
4.
Takeuptension. Take-upclutchcanbecheck-
ed
by
holding
right
spindle
while recorder
is
in
"play"
position. The tension
should
be
smooth
without
any
pulsations.
If
surface
of
take-up clutch
felt
(g0) is
gummy,
it
muet be
replaced.
