RADIO CONTROLS
Volume – Power switch and volume
PTT (Push To Talk) – Hold down to transmit; release to listen; press to set selected values in Menu
mode.
Call Tone – Toggles transmitted tones on and off (music note appears if on). Do not use.
Menu/Lock – Press briefly to enter or change menu modes; press and hold to lock or unlock the keypad
(lock icon indicates locked)
Scan/Monitor – Press briefly to start and stop scanning; hold to listen for weak stations and check
volume level.
+ and – buttons – Change channels after entering menu mode
TO OPERATE THE RADIO
1. Turn the radio on by turning the left control clockwise. This is also the volume control.
2. The radio screen will light and a channel number will appear.
3. To change the channel, tap the Menu button once. The channel number will begin flashing. Tap
the + or – button to raise or lower the channel number, and press PTT.
4. There is an additional number at the bottom of the screen. Tap Menu twice; this number will
begin flashing and you can lower it to zero using the minus button, then press PTT to set it. If it
is not set to zero, you will NOT hear Control or other stations. Press and hold Menu to lock the
keypad to prevent accidental changes.
5. To transmit, push and hold down the button on the left side of the radio, and talk across (not
into) the mic. Keep transmissions short, as they drain the batteries.
6. Release the transmit button to listen.
