Purpose
This instruction sheet provides installation instructions for the IPC-8000 and associated
cables.

Cautions and Warnings
The following are specific Cautions and Warnings that must be followed when installing or
operating equipment.
Please read all instructions before attempting to install any equipment. Failure to
follow directions can cause bodily injury and/or damage to the equipment.
Ensure that precautionary measures are employed to prevent applying power to
equipment at any time maintenance work is in progress.
Do not make any unauthorized alterations to equipment or components. Changes or
modifications not expressly approved by Cooper Notification can result in damage
to the equipment and will void the warranty.
When working near electricity do not use metal rules, flashlights, metallic pencils, or
any other object having exposed conducting material.
Ensure all electrical connections are secure before applying power to a unit. Failure
to secure connections may cause an electrical arc resulting in physical shock or
damage to the equipment.
When possible, avoid installing equipment during severe or wet conditions.
Handling equipment with wet hands may cause slippage resulting in bodily injury
and/or damage to equipment.
Comply with all electrical codes per the local authority having jurisdiction.

  • Page 2 Introduction Introduction The IPC-8000 is an IP based node utilizing inputs, and outputs. The IPC-8000 sends and receives IP streamed audio to end nodes and provides inputs, outputs, and serial RS-232 connections to external devices. Additionally, the IPC-8000 has the ability to interface with the (optional) RADIO-900M to enable wireless IP functionality within the network.

  • Page 4 Locations Figure 1 IPC-8000 Mounting Keyhole Locations (Shown with optional RADIO-900M and UPS-901) 1. Verify power is disconnected to the IPC-8000 enclosure. 2. Disconnect all cables to the IPC. 3. Remove the IPC from its mounting plate as follows: a. Loosen the locking tabs on the bottom of the IPC and ensure they are clear of the mounting plate located below the unit.
  • Page 5 2. Mark and drill mounting holes for screws and anchors (not included) to mount the enclosure to the selected location. Refer to Figure 1 to identify the keyhole locations on the IPC-8000 enclosure.
  • Page 6 Use care when punching out knockout holes to avoid damage to internal components. Pre-cut penetration holes are available on the IPC-8000. However, when routing cables or cutting alternate penetration holes, take care to consider any optional equipment to be installed into the IPC- 8000 enclosure.

  • Page 8 Follow the steps below to install and connect the AC Power cable. 1. Ensure the AC power source is off. Route the external AC power cable into the IPC-8000 enclosure. Allow ample slack in the cable to properly route and terminate all wires to the AC Terminal Board.

    Source’s audio is converted to digital audio by the associated External Audio Source IP, located in the IPC-8000, and sent out to the IPC network. Refer to the WAVES 8 Administrator Manual for configuration of the IPC and details regarding the operation and sequence of events for connecting to an External Source.
  • Page 15 For External Source control operations, the IPC J2 pin 8 wire must be connected inside the IPC-8000 as follows: 1. Inside the IPC-8000, locate W-4, the single -wire cable connected on one end to TB-2 and the other end is tied back, not connected.
