    Introduction SAM4s SPS-2000 Overview Hardware Like other modern ECRs, the SPS-2000 consists of proprietary hardware bundled with built- in proprietary application software. Equipped with an LCD touch screen, the SPS-2000 resembles in appearance and application a PC-based POS terminal.     When installed in a merchant location, CRS recommends a PowerVar ABC065-11 power conditioner, CRS P/N 701002, which will support an SPS-2000 terminal and printer. An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is recommended where frequent power disruptions occur.

    Keylinks The main screen provides 40 programmable locations. In addition to the main screen you can define 199 additional 40-location screens referred to as “Keylinks”. (Note that the default program pre-defines the first 12 keylinks for PLU lists and various function lists.)     C. Install and Start the TFTP Server TFTP Server Note: CRS now recommends the tftpd32 server program. Tftpd32 has a smaller footprint and works with all operating systems. (SolarWinds 2003 TFTP Server is an acceptable alternative.) You must first source and install the TFTP server.

    Application Upgrade from SD Card You can update the application software from an SD memory card. NOTE: SD cards must be formatted as FAT 32.     6. After successful transfer, the new images will display. Note that when the image file exceeds 10 images, additional image pages are used.     Restore Reports (Note that the Report Save/Restore feature requires V2.00d software or later.) Previously saved reports can be restored to the memory of the SPS-2000. Report saving is advised whenever service activity or updates are required on installed ECRs. In case of memory clearing, customer totals can be restored without disrupting store security or accounting.

    Demonstration Program Overview The CRS sales staff has written a demonstration program for the SPS-2000. A copy of this program is posted on the SPS-2000 dealer support page of the CRS website: www.crs- usa.com. After downloading this program to your PC, you can copy the program files to an SD memory card so that you can load it into an SPS-2000.

    Operation Information Employee Sign On/Clock In To sign on touch [1], then touch EMPLOYEE. There is one employee programmed with code “1” and named “SAM”. Authority levels for this employee allow access to all functions. To clock in touch 1, touch CLK IN/OUT, then select JOB#1 and touch OK. Passwords The PGM mode tab password is 2000.

    Application Notes Convenience Store Most keys are open entry grocery style keys. LIQUOR, BEER and WINE keys are set with an age restriction of 21. There is a CIG PACK key with age set at 18. Three gas keys demonstrate the gallonage function. The REGULAR GAS key will print a non-volatile image on the receipt for a car wash.

    Chicken This is a KFC style menu. Piece counts are calculated on the orange keys as follows: CHICKEN BUCKET: 8 pcs. CHICKEN DINNER: 3 pcs. CHICKEN SNACK: 2 pcs. Entries on these items update the product mix and projection reports The head has 8 pieces.

    Salad And Sides This menu has popups for dressing choice on the salads and flavor choice on the soups. The SOUP AND SALAD key illustrates the link of two popups. The first is for choice of soup, the second for choice of dressing. Touch DONE to return to main screen.

    Bar And Grill There are preset selections for beer, wine and a variety of liquor types. The mixers are condiments that print in RED/REVERSE and are indented from the main item. For example: Coke The STEAK DINNER key has three popups linked, (temperature, potato choice and dressing choice).

    You can download non-volatile (NV) images from a PC to an ELLIX 20 Receipt Printer using the SAM4s Bitmap Image Downloader utility (available from the SPS-2000 support page of www-crs-usa.com.) Up to 256K of image memory is available. Images must be in “.bmp” format.
