• Section 2 - Site Preparation: explains how to prepare the site prior to installation. • Section 3 - Installation: explains how to install a CAG40D-MIN in a 19” rack and basic rack configuration. • Section 4 - Cable Connections: explains how to connect power, grounding and communication cables to the system.
Card and Accessory Installation Instructions 1.4. System Overview The CAG40D-MIN, which serves as an RU, comprises a card cage into which all cards required for operation are inserted. A CAG40D-MIN cage supports up to 128 subscribers. The CAG40D-MIN can be installed with the MPU-x. The MPU-x (Mini Power Unit) contains a charger and backup batteries for powering the CAG40D-MIN.
• separate units configuration - CAG40D-MIN and MPU-x are installed in different locations. • without the MPU-x unit - a different power supply feeds the CAG40D-MIN. Note: In configurations where the CAG40D-MIN is installed in a 19’’ rack...

Safety Precautions To avoid injury and prevent equipment damage, observe the following safety precautions: • Do not move or ship equipment unless it is properly packed in its original wrapping and shipping containers. • Observe ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures when handling card. •...
The rack is prepared and installed according to the 19in 44U Rack Installation Instructions supplied with the Service Manual. 2.2.1.2. Rack Preparation for other Racks When a CAG40D-MIN is to be installed on other racks, the rack should take into account the following CAG40D-MIN dimensions: • Width 482 mm/19 inches •...
The power source is connected to the system via the female power tap connectors. . Each CAG40D-MIN, including fans, requires a power source (-48 Vdc or -60 Vdc) for a maximum load of 16 A via a power junction box that includes circuit breakers.
Installation in 19” Rack 3.1.1. General This section describes the installation of a CAG40D-MIN in a standard 19” rack. Several cages can be installed above each other in a standard 19” rack, providing that an interval of 1U is maintained between each cage for a fan unit, which is installed below each CAG40D-MIN (see Figure 2).
. Place the CAG40D-MIN at the required height. . For each of the four holes in the front of the CAG40D-MIN (two on each side), insert the assembled screw and washer from the front of the CAG40D-MIN, and secure with the floating nuts.
3. Installation . Install a fan unit (FAN3A-RU or FAN3AL-RU) as follows: indoor installation: one unit beneath each BroadAccess CAG40D-MIN cage outdoor installation: one unit beneath each BroadAccess CAG40D-MIN cage if LI32 series cards are used. Note: For fan unit installation, see the specific fan installation instructions supplied with the Service Manual.
Note: The number of RUs that can be connected to each CU varies according to topology and transmission type. Currently up to 16 RUs (CAG40D-M, CAGE40-M, CAG40D-MIN or CAGE40-MIN) can be connected to each CU. Note: The RUs should always be numbered between 1 to 16.

Left 3.2.4. CU Group Number The CU Group Number, set through Dipswitches 16 and 17 on the CAG40D-MIN backplane, is used for BroadAccess systems in which the CU is connected to the local exchange through 2W connections in Automatic Connection Mode (if using V5.x to connect the CU to the local exchange, use the management software...
4. Cable Connections Cable Connections 4.1. Overview This section describes the connection procedures for all cables required for operating a 128 subscriber (single cage) system. 4.2. Ground Note: Use accepted methods for grounding (grounding screw, clamp, etc.) when connecting ground cables. Note: Unless otherwise specified by local standards, we recommend the use of 10 - 16 mm...

• COM2 (9-pin connector) – for factory use only. • COM3 (Ethernet connector RJ-45) - connects (directly using a crossed Ethernet cable or through a hub using a regular Ethernet cable) a BroadAccess CAG40D-MIN to a PC running BroadAccess LCT management software. For detailed information, see LCT Installation and Administration Guide.
4.6. Fan Connection The cables that are used to connect fans to the BroadAccess cage are factory installed on the cage backplane. The connector and cable are located at the lower left side of the backplane, marked FAN1, as shown in Figure 8. For more information about fan installation procedures, refer to the installation instructions supplied with the Service Manual.
