This setting is required to
allow other computers on
the same LAN to share
files from your computer
or the printer connected
to your computer.
File and Printer Sharing is
not recommended while
connected to the Internet.
Security is an issue and
Microsoft warns to
disable the option. While
connected to the Internet,
please consider using
firewall software.
To add Client for Microsoft Networks
If Client for Microsoft Networks is not displayed in
step 2 on page 40, follow the steps below.

Click Install on the Local Area Connection
Properties dialog box.
The Select Network Component Type dialog box
appears.

Click Client, then Add.
The Select Network Service dialog box appears.

Click Client for Microsoft Networks.

Click OK.
Client for Microsoft Networks is added to the
component list.
To add File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks
If File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is
not displayed in step 2 on page 40, follow the steps
below.

Click Install on the Local Area Connection
Properties dialog box.
The Select Network Component Type dialog box
appears.

Click Service, then click Add.
The Select Network Service dialog box appears.

Click File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks.
4
Click OK.
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is
added to the component list.
When you have added all components, proceed to the
next section, "To Specify the IP address" on page 44.
