Caution
When installing your lafayette trucker in your vehicle, check that during installation you do not da-
mage any wiring or vehicle components that may be hidden around the mounting position. If you are
unsure about how to install your trucker, consult a qualified installer or your vehicle manufacturer.
Antenna installation
To obtain the best performance from your trucker it is important to obtain a good quality antenna.
You should purchase an antenna designed for the 7MHz frequency band.

Connect the antenna to the rear antenna socket using a pl59 coaxial connector.

To obtain maximum performance from the transceiver, select a high quality antenna and mount it
in a good location. So, do not press PTT or call button before installing the antenna.
Antenna information
For radio communications, the antenna is of critical importance, to maximize your output power
and receiver sensitivity. The transceiver accepts a 50 Ω antenna and less than 1:1.5 of voltage
standing wave ratio (VSWR). High SWR values not only may damage the transceiver but also
lead to TVI or BCI problems.
DC power
The lafayette trucker is designed for 13.8V dc negative installation only.

Connect the negative (black) dc power lead to the vehicle chassis or directly to the vehicle bat-
tery negative terminal if preferred.

Connect the positive (red) DC power lead via the in line fuse to a suitable point in the vehicle
fuse box or directly to the positive battery terminal, when selecting a suitable point take into con-
sideration if you want your lafayette trucker to be operational when the car ignition is off.
Mounting using din sleeve
If you are unsure about how to install your lafayette trucker in your vehicle using the din sleeve,
consult your automobile manufacturer, dealer, or a qualified installer.
Before installing, confirm that this radio fits in the desired mounting area and you have all the
