I. Connecting the Ethernet 241 Device

1. Connect the Null Modem Cable to the Ethernet 241*
2. Connect the Network Cable to the Ethernet 241
3. Connect the Power Supply to the Ethernet 241
4. Open and start a Telnet Client program such as Putty or HyperTerminal**
5. Press the recessed restart button on the 241 device
6. The command {RF IDeas} will appear on screen
Set IP Mode = DHCP
7. Set comm_mode = Client or Server (Default will be set to Client)

8. Connect the Printer Network cable
9. Type net_status
10. Get IP
11. Disconnect Null Modem cable
12. Plug in reader
13. Configure reader
*The null modem cable is an optional piece that can be purchased from RF IDeas; part number CAB-DB929-NULL.
**Although any Telnet Client Software will work, the following directions (pg.2) have been supplied to download Putty and
create a Telnet session.

Set IP Mode = Static
IP_ADDR = 1.2.3.4
IP_Mask = xxx.xxx.xxx
GW_ADDR = 5.6.7.8
DNS1 = xxx.xxx.xxx
DNS2 = xxx.xxx.xxx
Client
