1. GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 INTRODUCTION These instructions include the information required for the use and maintenance of the machine. Before commissioning, please read the operating instructions thoroughly. REQUIREMENTS THAT THE OPERATORS AND THE MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL MUST MEET Each person assigned to the transport, placement, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the machine must - before executing the first actions - have read and understood the operating instructions and especially the „Safety“...
If damages are suspected, for example due to smells of burning materials, disconnect the device immediately from the mains and contact the LUGAMA service. If the mains cable of this machine is damaged, then it must be repaired at Dörr or an expert service point authorized by Dörr .
Only connect the device to a mains voltage identical to the one listed in the Technical Data (see page 9). Only use the original LUGAMA POLIDRY (article number 204ZB00002) polishing granulate as well as the original LUGAMA care accessories. Accessories not recommended expressly by LUGAMA can damage the flatware polishing machine.
3. TRANSPORTING, STORAGE AND INSTALLATION 3.1 TRANSPORT ADHERENCE TO THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED WHEN TRANSPORTING THE MACHINE: Machine must not be tilted Check in advance for existing transport damages Ensure a safe and straight stand when transporting the machine again Do not place any additional transport goods on the machine Improper transport does not give the right to replacement and warranty claims.
Please note that only original spare parts may be installed into the machine, because the warranty claim expires otherwise. In addition to the original spare parts, the POLISTAR 4000 also offers accessories. LUGAMA offers POLIDRY (article number 204ZB00002) polishing granulate, POLICLEAN (article number 208ZB00002) cleaning alcohol as well as flatware transport carts in stainless steel (with PVC tub and four steering rollers) at an optimal work height for the flatware insertion and discharge.
If you have technical questions or experience problems, please contact your specialty retailer. 7. LANGUAGE SELECTION The POLISTAR 4000 is programmed for two languages - German and English. German is set as a default. Please assign an authorized service technician to make a change of the language settings because it involves current carrying parts.

14. COMMISSIONING 14.1 BEFORE THE FIRST COMMISSIONING The flatware polishing machine can only be commissioned if the machine was checked for completeness the installation conditions were adhered to the operating instructions were thoroughly read all valid safety regulations were adhered to 14.2 EXPLANATIONS FOR THE OPERATION OF THE MACHINE Before the first commissioning, familiarize yourself with the operating instructions and check whether all items listed under item 8 (Work before the first commissioning) were observed!
14.3 WORK PROCESS - MESSAGES Insert the plug into an outlet. Press the main switch [green] ON/OFF to ensure that the green control lamp is illuminated. Electricity is now supplied to the machine. The following message will be shown on the display: 1st Line: Display of the total previous operating hours and the remaining operating hours until the next required granulate exchange.
As soon as the machine is ready for operation, the wet flatware can be inserted through the square opening at the machine cover. The message „POLISHING PROCESS“ only appears for a short time and changes back to „READY FOR OPERATION“. Note: Always insert a handful at once and the next handful only after the flatware disappeared in thegranulate.
UVC LAMP DEFECTIVE: Check if the UVC lamp is defective. Press the START/STOP button [(1)]. Press the main switch [green] ON/OFF. UVC lamp UVC sensor Unplug the machine. Open the cover of the flatware polishing machine and remove the UVC lamp carefully from the lamp holder and renew it with a new UVC lamp.
5.2 ERROR MESSAGES 15.2.2 Sensor defective This error message appears, for example, directly after the system testor during operation if the temperature sensor is defective and if several short signal sounds can be heard. Press the START/STOP button. Press the main switch [green] ON/OFF. Unplug the machine and wait 5 minutes before switching the machine on again.
Note: POLICLEAN must be used to guarantee an optimal interior cleaning. 1l bottles of cleaning alcohol can be obtained from your specialty retailer. Clean the outside of the device with a moist cloth and dry it afterwards. More severe contaminations should be removed with a commercially available stainless steel cleaner.
18. SERVICE This machine has a long, failure-free service life if it is properly installed, commissioned and operated. To optimize a failure-free function, it is required that a trained service technician performs a basic maintenance at the machine after 3,000 operating hours. 18.1 REPAIRS Original spare parts must always be used.
