Introduction
The purpose of this guide is to enable the successful installation of the Global Invacom FibreIRS
Quad or Quatro GTU
This guide assumes that;
The GTU is connected to a suitable Global Invacom FibreIRS Passive Optical Network
(PON), providing minimum optical signal levels of -12dBm at the connection point of the GTU.
The GTU has been installed in a dry environment and mounted with suitable fixings.
The installation is carried out by a competent person.
All ferrule end faces of the FC/PC optical connectors are cleaned prior to making a
connection using a suitable fibre optic cleaning kit.
Cables and Connections
Cables used should be industry approved coaxial cable and should be terminated using an F type
connector.
Fibre optic cable should be Global Invacom approved single mode with FC/PC connections.
Mounting
Ensure the back plate is mounted on a suitable wall or flat surface, with enough room to allow the
cover to slide on and off, sufficient space should left for the cables to exit the unit. Click the GTU into place
as shown in the diagram (Fig.l and Fig.2)
Next connect the fibre connector into the optical input of the GTU (ensuring the end is cleaned first)
as per the following diagram.
Always ensure the end of the fibre is clean before commencing.
1) Align the key-way on the FC-PC connector, with
the key-way on the fibre receptacle. Push the
connector firmly into the socket.
Note: Failure to follow these instructions correctly will result in attenuation.
