  • Page 7 Resetting the Switches You’ll need a screwdriver and a fine-tipped tool- a ballpoint pen or a toothpick will do. Make sure that the power is off. Remove the screw from the small cover on the back of the printer and slide off the cover. Switches Using the tool, slide the switch to the new selection.

    Wire guide Paper separator Printhead centered Inserting the ribbon cartridge If you haven’t done so already, lift off the access cover. Center the print head so that it’s away from the bail rollers. Make sure the bail is closed lever back. With the knob side up, tilt the ribbon cartridge onto the print head plate so that it slides into the area of the plate that is closest to the front of the printer.
  • Page 9 Lower the ribbon shield over the print head, aligning the tabs with the inserts on the print head plate. Press on the cartridge until you feel it snap into place. Caution: Do not touch the print head directly after printing, allow five minutes for it to cool.
  • Page 10 Bottom feed Set the printer on a slotted printer stand, aligning the opening in the base of the printer with the slot on the stand. Place the paper under the printer stand. Lift the access cover. Open the paper lever and the bail lever Slide the first sheet of paper through the opening in the base of the printer.

Replace the access cover making sure the paper exits through the opening; then lower the wire guide on the paper separator to prevent exiting paper from reentering the printer.   • Page 13 Using the Front Panel FORM ALARM POWER PITCH MODE SELECT LINE FEED FEED UTILITY The SELECT button controls communications with the computer. Pressing this button turns the SELECT light on and off. When the light is on, the printer is on line (SELECTED) and is ready to receive data. When the light is out, the printer is offline or (DESELECTED) and not ready to receive data from the computer.
