    2.1 Installation 2.1.1 Room/area The room in which the machine is installed has to be well aerated and dry and the temperature range is between 5 and 35°C. The temperature of the room, where the machine is located can absolutely affect the binding quality, therefore the suggested temperature range is between 20-25°C.
  • Page 10 The power cable cross-section of the electric socket where the machine connected has to be minimum 3 x 1,5 mm². To protect the machine against too much power consumption, use single-phase C 16 circuit/contact breaker. Carefully check the rotation of the motors. At an occurred failure of the fuses change them just to the specified value, the bridging of them or causing their short circuit is forbidden.

    2.2 User/ Operator Only one person can use the machine at the time, in order to avoid any danger to the health. The machine can be handled just by a person who is educated, knows the instructions written in the user manual and is in appropriate state for safe working. Never stand or sit on the machine.

    2.3 During Process/Operation 2.3.1 General terms Before start up, check if there is no other person in danger zone. Before start up, check not have any metal or easily-combustible object inside the working area. Do not place metal objects or vessels containing liquids on top of the unit. Keep this unit and the power cord away from heaters and heater vents and hanging objects.
  • Page 13 2.3.4 Milling unit Do not touch the milling blade at any time! Do not remove any cover of the milling unit. Do not put your hands inside of the working area until the milling unit has been completely stopped and the cover is completely closed. Risk of cutting injury from sharp edges: wear gloves especially protective against cutting.

    4.2 Carriage clamp This unit holds the document during the binding process and moves forward and backward directions. The maximum thickness of the book can be hold is 40 mm. 2 sensors are mounted inside the carriage clamp, 1 is document sensor and the other is the pressure sensor.

    4.3 Starting plate/Milling height The starting steel plate determines the level of the spine of the book in proportion to the milling disk. The milling height is adjusted into a fix level, which cannot be changed. The milling height is 0.5 mm.

    4.4 Milling system This unit is responsible for the preparation of the spine of the book, which happens with notching and milling. Never mill a book, which has been already bound, this leads to the immediate failure of the milling unit. Do not touch the milling blade at any time!
  • Page 21 Lowering the milling unit: The complete milling unit can be lowered manually. In this case the machine is not using any milling or notching. You can tilt the unit by turning using Allen key counter clockwise. Raising up the unit back to position you have to turn the screw clockwise.

    4.5 Hot-melt glue tank This unit is responsible to provide the book with the requested amount of glue. The glue tank is designed to have 2 different glue containers to provide the possibility of using 2 different kind of glue (for spine gluing and for side gluing). 1.

    4.7 Binding unit This unit binds the book effectively. The movement is driven by a 24V DC motor. The unit has 2 micro switches, which are responsible for the stopping of the opening and closing plate. The binding strength is provided by the combination of the motor and special spring load.

    4.8 Vacuuming unit This unit serves to vacuum the paper dust created during the milling process. The daily cleaning and maintaining of the unit is very important in respect of the working of the vacuum. Blow out the dust sack by air after emptying at least once a week. Check if there is any occurred obstruction in the vacuum as well as in the suction pipe.

    5. How to use the machine How to turn ON the machine To start the machine, turn the main switch into ON position.     5.1.2. Adjustment of the binding time To reach the best binding quality the binding time can be adjusted between 0 and 99 sec. “0” means: to finish the binding procedure the carriage reverse/open button should be pressed. In case of an adjustment between 1 – 99 sec. the carriage will return to home position automatically.

    5.1.3. Adjustment of the carriage clamp opening distance Some of the inside stock softness can vary from each other. To have the best gap/distance in the carriage clamp, it is possible to adjust the opening gap. It is possible to adjust the opening gap between 4 and 15mm. To enter the requested opening gap please press number on the Open Distance sign, then enter the requested time and hit the enter button for execution.

    5.1.5. Book cycle/job counter The machine is equipped with a job counter, to indicate to the operator how many books have been done from the job it actually runs on the machine. The job counter shows the cycles have been done from the last RESET. To reset the job counter please hit the RESET button next to the Counter sign.

    5.1.8. Cover sensor ON/OFF The operator can turn on and off the cover sensor via the touch screen. If the sensor is turned on then the machine warns you to put a cover onto the nipping station. If you would like to use the machine for padding or for tape binding, then you have to turn off the sensor.

    5.1.10. Automatic mode (for availability of this feature please contact your distributor) The automatic mode is a feature of the machine. In case the automatic mode is turned on then the clamp will start closing automatically after the operator puts the paper into the clamp and the countdown expires. You can interrupt the clamp closing process by pushing the clamp open button.

Instruction Manual Paper and types: The paper has its own characteristics during production, like weight, glossy or matt, cardboard type or not, grain direction etc. At your company the paper goes through further processes, which might change the characteristics of the paper, like warnishing, or laminating not mentioning the type of your printengine.

    6.1 Getting ready to run the job Once the machine is heated up and it is ready to use, prepare the job for binding. 1. Parameters: First adjust the parameters of the machine, such as turning on the milling, gule temperature, binding time, book block position, as well as the opening distance of the book clamp.

    7. Upkeep of the bookbinder machine At each use After each use, clean drips of glue which may appear on the active parts of your machine, with a cloth dipped in White Spirit. According to intensity of use Replace the slitting points when you notice that your slitting system is less efficient, or when the points are worn.

    8. Error codes E01: Binding unit end micro switch Electric check: First of all, check the position of the binding unit, that in which position/phase occurred the problem/error. In case the error appeared during closing but it did not finished the closing procedure, check the fuse of the motor and the short circuit of the motor.

Mechanical check: If necessary re-calibrate the position of the micro switch. E05: Over heating Electric check: Check the relays of the heating.
