Instructions for Use:10419 Instructions for Use
Save water. Save time. Save energy.
Until now, conveniently measuring the correct amount of water to be
boiled in your kettle has not been easy. The result? It is estimated
that, on average, we boil twice the volume of water needed every
time. Which means twice as much energy, twice as much time.
With a 3kW kettle that's the same as wasting the energy of around
50 light bulbs!
Your new ECO Kettle is different: the internal reservoir holds a full
capacity of water ready for use, while the measuring button allows
any quantity – from a single cupful to full capacity – to be released
into the separate chamber for boiling. The result? Exactly the right
amount of water every time you boil – and no more waste.
In UK consumer trials directed by the Energy Saving Trust, the ECO
Kettle used an average of 31% less energy then normal kettles.
To take full advantage of the potential of your new ECO Kettle,
please take time to read and follow the instructions in this
booklet, which will explain how the Eco Friendly Technology
works, and how best to care for your new product.
Please pay particular attention to the section dealing with
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS, and keep this booklet in a safe
place for future reference.
How to use your ECO Kettle
Carefully unpack the ECO Kettle and its power base, and remove all
packaging materials. Study the illustrations in this booklet to identify
the various parts of the ECO Kettle, and then follow these operating
instructions.
Before first use, boil a full volume of water and discard to ensure that
the interior of the ECO
Kettle is completely clean.
Lid
Latch
The ECO Kettle is supplied
with some of the mains
cable stowed in the Power
Base. The cable can
simply be lengthened by
releasing it from the clips.
Every kettle is boil tested
Boiling
as part of our quality
Chamber
assurance procedures and
this may leave small drops
of water inside the
Reservoir and Boiling
Chamber.

Operation
Check that the Valve Button is in the
raised position, pull back the Latch, and
then open the hinged lid.
Fill the main Reservoir to the MAXIMUM
level and close the lid using a small
downward pressure to ensure that the
Latch engages fully.
Place the ECO Kettle on its Power Base
and plug in the Power Cord to a
standard domestic power socket and
switch on.
You are now ready to decide how much
water you wish to boil – from one cup
to the full kettle!
To deliver water to the Boiling Chamber,
press the Valve Button until water flows
into the Boiling Chamber. Watch the
water level rise in the front window until
it reaches the required mark.
When the valve button is released
the valve closes and the water in
the Boiling Chamber is ready to boil.
Always ensure there is enough water to
reach the Min Fill mark (approximately
1 cup = 200ml).
Never fill above the Max Boil mark on
the Boiling Chamber window as water
may be ejected during boiling.
Valve
Indicator
Button
Switch the ECO Kettle ON by pressing
Light
down the On/Off Switch. The Indicator
Light will illuminate to indicate the ECO
Kettle is ON.
When the water has boiled, the ECO
Kettle will switch OFF automatically.
Reservoir
The water can be brought back to the
boil by operating the On/Off switch again. It may be necessary to
wait a few seconds before the switch can be reset.
Do not hold the switch in the ON position as this will damage
the mechanism.
You can simply stop the boiling process at any time by operating
On/Off
the On/Off Switch to the OFF position.
Switch
Valve
Button
If at any time you wish to boil all of the
Latch
water in the kettle – including the water
contained in the reservoir – simply lock
the valve open by rotating the valve
button in the direction of the arrow
when the button is depressed. Do not
leave the valve in the locked position as
this will prevent your ECO Kettle from
saving energy and may make the lid
seal less effective.
Generally, Valve Open is useful for larger quantities above 1 litre, and
Valve Closed is suitable for smaller quantities – 1 to 5 cups (200ml
to 1 litre).
Max
Fill
If the ECO Kettle is inadvertently operated without water in
the Boiling Chamber an automatic cut out will operate to protect
your ECO Kettle. This can simply be re-set as follows: cool the
heating element by releasing water from the reservoir into the boiling
chamber. Wait for a short time for the control to cool sufficiently and
the ECO Kettle will then be ready for use again.
And remember, unused water remaining in the Reservoir is available
Press
for use next time – saving water, time and energy!
Top up the Reservoir to the Maximum level from time to time as
necessary, so that your ECO Kettle is always ready to boil the exact
amount of water you require.
To ensure the water in your ECO Kettle does not get stale, start
each day by discarding any remaining water and refilling with fresh.
Looking after your
ECO Kettle
The ECO Kettle is provided with a
removable filter in the spout to remove
limescale etc. If it becomes clogged,
On/Off
remove and clean under running water.
Switch
To maintain optimum performance, it will
be necessary from time to time to clean
the ECO Kettle to remove limescale
deposits. This can be achieved simply
by using a proprietary cleaner made
specially for plastic bodied kettles, and
following the makers instructions.
The outside of your ECO Kettle should
be kept clean using a damp, soft cloth.
Never immerse the ECO Kettle or its
power base in water.
