Mode of operation
The BGP-COD-BAT is a port able pro gram ming unit used for
read ing or pro gram ming chan nel code(s) in the ASIC- based
series of smart-house products.
Once the bat tery is installed, the BGP-COD-BAT is ready for use.

Con nect the cable be tween the pro gram ming unit and a smart-
house mod ule type G..
5 keys pro vide the means of oper at ing the BGP-COD-BAT: two
keys are used for read ing and pro gram ming, two keys for
chang ing Groups and Channels and one key for select ing the
desired Input/Out put.
The cur rent cod ing is dis played by 4 x 8 LEDs. The top row of
LEDs dis plays the select ed input or out put. The two mid dle rows
dis play the cur rent channel group, while the bot tom row dis -
plays the cur rent channel code.
« In/Out » - Key
This key is used to scroll through the I/O's of a module. If a new
mod ule is connect ed or if con sec u tive channel codes are allo -

cat ed to the I/O's, press ing the « In/ Out » key has no effect
since all smart-house mod ules are pre programmed to their
phys i cal num ber of inputs/out puts. This key is also used to

switch between con sec u tive and individ ual cod ing of the I/O's.
To change the mode, keep « In/Out » pressed for more than 2
sec onds.
« Group » - Key
Used to select the Group ad dress with in the range A to P . The
Group LED will shift one posi tion right for each key acti va tion.
« Chan nel » - Key
Used to select the chan nel(s) with in the group. The Channel
LED will shift right one, two or four posi tions, depending on the
number of inputs/out puts. If con sec u tive channels are select -
ed, then pressing the « Chan nel » key will have no effect.

« Read / On » - Key
Used to turn on the BGP-COD-BAT and to read the chan nel
codes of the con nect ed mod ule. When the read ing is complet -
ed, the dis play will show the chan nel code of the module: either
1, 2, 4 or 8 inputs/out puts.

2, 4 or 8 In/Out LED's being ON indi cates that con se cutive
chan nel codes are allocat ed to the I/O's, e.g. input 1 cod ed to
P1, input 2 to P2 input 8 to P8.
If only one In/Out LED is ON, then the I/O's are cod ed individ u -
al ly, e.g. input 1 to C5, input 2 to D4 etc. The code for each
I/O is
indi cat ed by a group LED and a chan nel LED.
If the BGP-COD-BAT is not connect ed to a smart-house system,
it will turn off with in two se conds.
