  • Page 4 CONTROLS Note: Your application's user instructions may supplement the following information. Turning on and off Press to turn on, or off. To conserve power, the FS/GS turns off automatically if you have not pressed any keys for a short while. Screen contrast Adjust the screen contrast for optimum readability, especially at temperature extremes.
  • Page 5 BATTERIES The FS/GS can be fitted with either rechargeable or replaceable batteries. The FS/GS batteries are designed to last more than a working shift. However, if power does run low, a warning BATTERY LEVEL LOW will be displayed. (After a further period of use, your FS/GS will turn itself off and will not turn on again.) You should do one of the following: Return the FS/GS to your base or office.
  • Page 6 Replacing batteries • Turn off the FS/GS. • Remove the battery cap by using a suitable coin. • Do not allow rain or moisture into the battery compartment. • Tilt the unit to slide out the batteries. • Slide the fresh batteries into the battery compartment, positive end first.
  • Page 7 CLEANING If the screen gets dirty or smeared, clean it with a clean cloth. If the FS/GS gets very dirty, it should be cleaned: • Turn off the FS/GS. Make sure that the battery cap is tight. If you have dropped it, check that the case and seals are intact.
  • Page 8 PROBLEMS If you have problems with the FS/GS, TELL YOUR SYSTEM PROVIDER, but here are a few quick checks: • If the unit will not turn on, check the batteries' orientation and try a fresh set of batteries. • If you cannot read the display, try adjusting the screen contrast (See Controls).
