The majority of applications are measured with an emissivity of 0.95. The CMAC 4230 is therefore preset to 0.95 and can be adjusted in steps of 0.01 depending on the application. Emissivity range over 1.00 is intended for applications, where adjacent measurement objects having different temperatures are to be measured.
Switch on the device by pressing the measurement button (F). Press the appropriate function key (H). To change the functions, either press ENTER or press the current function key first and then the desired one. 2 - 2 Wireless Infrared Thermometer CMAC 4230 User Manual...

Most organic materials as well as lacquered and oxidized surfaces have an emissivity of 0.95. The emissivity is preset to 0.95 in the CMAC 4230 for this reason, but can be changed using the rocker switch. The determination of the temperatures of shiny or highly polished metal surfaces results in inaccurate measured values.
Use arrow keys to change the value until the displayed temperature matches that of the contact sensor. Reference the Sensor Port section in Chapter 4 for details on connecting the sensor. 3 - 2 Wireless Infrared Thermometer CMAC 4230 User Manual...
