I NSPECTION

At the time of i n sta l l ati on, the relay should be i nspected for ta rn ished contacts, l oose
screws, or other i m perfections. If any trouble is fou nd, it sho u ld be corrected in the m a n n e r

The l ocatio n should be clean and d ry, free from d ust and excessive vibrati on, and wel l
l i g hted to faci l itate i nspection and testing .

less than No. 1 2 B&S gage copper wire or its eq u ivale nt.

cra d le ca n be d rawn out and repl aced by a noth er that has been l a boratory tested .
In view of the vital role of protective relays in the operatio n of a power syste m it i s
i m po rta nt that a period i c test progra m be fo l l owed .

The lower jewel may be tested fo r cracks by explori ng its su rface with the p o i nt of a fi n e
n eed l e . If i t is necessary to replace the jewel, the j ewel shou ld then b e tu rned u p u ntil the
d isk is centered i n the air g a p, after wh ich it should be locked i n positi on by the set screw
p rovided for the pu rpose.
