5 Navigate to and click the ‘Install Software’ Icon to run the installation programme which will then open the following prompt where you click ‘Next’ to continue. On the next prompt you will be asked to install the programme. Click ‘Install’ to continue. At this point the programme will install the necessary files required for the module. The screen will then prompt you stating the software has been installed and click ‘Finish’ to exit the setup. 6.2 Connecting the eMotion Hardware to your PC ...
6 Plug the USB cable provided into the eMotion USB port as illustrated earlier. Once plugged in place the opposite end of the USB cable into a USB port on your PC. The next part of your installation depends upon your computers operating system. Please follow the instructions for your appropriate operating system. 6.3 Windows XP NOTE. Screen shots may vary slightly from those displayed. Once the eMotion has been connected to the PC, the operating system will try to find the USB <‐> Serial driver for the eMotion to communicate with the software. In order to ensure the operating system finds/selects the correct driver, please ensure you follow the following steps carefully. The first screen which should appear upon your screen should be the ‘Found New Hardware Wizard’. If the screen asks ‘can windows connect to windows update to search for software?’ select ‘No, not this time’. The previous screen may not show depending upon the settings of your operating system. 7 From this screen please select ‘Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)’ and then click the ‘Next’ button to continue. If the automatic selection is chosen it will not find the device driver and will not work when trying to communicate with the eMotion. You now need to navigate to the location of the driver so window’s installs the correct driver. Please ensure you select the ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’ radio button and check box the ‘Include this location in the search:’ and uncheck the box above. 12 When the device is being used for the first time and has successfully communicated with the handset you will receive a vehicle selection list. The example used above is a Fiat Stilo with the 1.9 JTD engine with 115bhp standard. Even if you car has already been modified always work using the standard bhp/Ps of your vehicle. Once your vehicle is highlighted, select ‘OK’ to install the communication settings to the handset. Please wait while it carries this out, it can take a minute or so. During this process you will receive a pop up asking you to select your language, select the language that you wish for the handset to display and select ‘OK’. Once the handset has been programmed you will receive the following screen prompt. Select ‘OK’ and disconnect the USB cable from the handset. ...
13 7.2 Reading the Original File from your Vehicle Plug in the RS‐232 OBD cable into the handset. Locate the vehicles OBD port which will resemble the following picture: The OBD socket varies in location from car to car but in general the locations are as follows: AUDI / VW / SKODA / SEAT • Underneath the steering wheel, above the pedal assembly. • For read time allow 20 minutes. • For programming time allow 10 minutes. FORD • Underneath the steering wheel, above the pedal assembly. • For read time allow 5 minutes. • For programming time allow 5 minutes. ...

Once plugged into the OBD, the handset menu will be displayed. Select ‘Read file from ECU’ and follow the onscreen prompts. Your car will still work and remains driveable. 7.3 Uploading the Original File to be Modified NOTE. You will need an internet connection for this section. Plug the handset into the PC using the USB port as described earlier on within the manual. Double click the icon on the desktop to launch the program. The program will load up as previous. Once again in order to start the software needs to communicate with the handset. Select ‘Link’ to communicate with handset. If your screen does not automatically update press ‘F5’ to refresh the page and a screen as above should appear showing the original file available for download. We will aim to have the modified file(s) back to you within four hours during normal office hours (GMT). 7.4 Uploading the Modified File to the eMotion Once the modified file(s) have been uploaded they will become available to download as below. Operation Instructions 8.1 Switching between Original/Modified Files WARNING: Once the handset starts programming DO NOT disconnect any cables until instructed to do so. One will say ‘Original’ and will have at least the ‘Fast Road’ additional files will be named accordingly. Highlight the file you wish to flash onto the vehicle using the navigation buttons and press the ‘Yes’ button to initiate the write process. Follow the on screen prompts until the handset instructs you to remove the OBD cable from the car. 22 8.2 Using the Data Trouble Code (DTC) Function NOTE. The diagnostic function will only work with the vehicle make, model and engine variant selected at the point of current installation. The DTC function will not work with any vehicle within the vehicle list as they are programmed with specific communication protocols at point of setup. Plug in the RS‐232 OBD cable into the handset and insert the OBD connector into the socket located earlier. Navigate to ‘Read/Clear DTC Codes’ and press the ‘Yes’ button to continue. The handset will then display two options ‘Read DTC Codes’ and ‘Clear DTC Codes’. ...
8.2.1 Read DTC Codes Highlight the ‘Read DTC codes’ and press the ‘Yes’ button. Follow the on screen prompts for turning the ignition on. Once the DTC codes have been read you will have a screen which either displays a list of numbers which may be made up of letters and numbers such as P0189. If you have a series of numbers note these down as they are each individual fault listed. Alternatively, if you have no faults your handset will display ‘No DTC codes found’. 8.2.2 Clear DTC Codes Highlight the ‘Clear DTC codes’ and press the ‘Yes’ button. Follow the on screen prompts for turning the ignition on. Once the codes have been cleared a message will be displayed ‘All DTC codes erased’. 8.2.3 Determining DTC Codes Log into the file manager as when you uploaded the original files earlier in the manual. In the text box next to DTC enter the code to which you are trying determine the cause of. Click ‘DTC Lookup’ and a pop up screen will appear with the description for that code. NOTE. Only codes starting Pxxxx are supported as these relate to the engine of the vehicle. Other codes will not be supported If your code returns a ‘DTC Code Not Found’, select ‘Add Note’ and include the DTC’s within the message to which a team member will respond with definitions. 8.3 Using the eMotion on your Next Vehicle NOTE. In order to use your eMotion Tuning Module on your next vehicle it must be supported the vehicle list and your previous car reset to standard. If your previous car has ...

24 not been reset to standard first then the eMotion Tuning Module cannot be erased and will remain locked into your previous vehicle. In order to use the eMotion Tuning Module on your new vehicle first of all check to see whether your vehicle is supported. Double click the icon on the desktop to launch the program. Navigate to ‘Device’ then from the drop down list select ‘Available vehicles’. This will open up the vehicle selection list showing all vehicles supported by your software version. If you are unsure whether your vehicle is within the vehicle selection list, please either contact your reseller or Celtic Tuning direct for further guidance. ...
25 Once you have determined your new vehicle is supported, the first step is to load the original file back onto your vehicle. Please refer to earlier instructions for loading the original file. Plug the handset into the PC using the USB port as described earlier on within the manual. Once connected double click the icon on the desktop to launch the program. The program will load up as previous. Once again in order to start the software needs to communicate with the handset. Select ‘Link’ to communicate with handset. To clear the existing setting to allow you to setup your new vehicle select ‘Erase Device’ and on the warning prompt select ‘OK’. WARNING: By erasing the device all previous settings will be erased from the handset doing so will render all previous files useless. Once the eMotion Tuning Module has been erased follow the instructions for ‘Installation For Your Vehicle’ as described earlier in the manual. Please note there will be a charge for the new file, please ensure you contact Celtic Tuning direct to organise payment. 8.4 Software Updates The software update process is automatic. When the programme opens it will search for updates and requires an internet connection. If an update is found your will receive the following screen prompt. ...
26 The number highlighted in the ‘Versione’ box is the software number of the update. To update, select ‘Scarica’. Once selected, the programme will download the update and save a file to the desktop labelled ‘instEmotion.exe’, to install the update run the file and follow the on screen instructions. If you do not wish to update the software select ‘Annulla’ to cancel and continue using the current software version installed. 9. Troubleshooting 9.1 Receiving ‘Device Not Found’ when trying to link the handset to the PC The cause of this error is the device driver is not installed correctly. To rectify navigate to ‘Control Panel’ – ‘System’ – ‘Hardware’ tab – ‘Device Manager’. There will be an exclamation mark on device which will either say ‘USB Device’ or ‘USB <‐> Serial’. Double left click the icon with the exclamation which will open a new screen, select ‘Driver’ Tab – ‘Update Driver’. Then continue to follow the instructions for installation as instructed earlier. 9.2 I receive ‘error in communication’ message when trying to read my original file Please ensure you have selected the make and model variant for your car. If you are unsure then please contact Celtic Tuning. If you have selected the correct make, model and ecu variant then it may be that your Kline has been blocked for communication. Try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes ensuring both terminals have been removed. If possible touch the two terminals together off of the battery to clear any residual power. Reconnect and try reading again. If the error persists then please turn your ignition on and leave on for at least 30 minutes but ideally 45 minutes. After this period of time retry the reading process. ...
27 NOTE. If your vehicle has had time trial software applied in the past this will prevent the eMotion Tuning Module from reading your original file. This usually only applies to VAG vehicles. If you have had time trial software applied please visit the distributor to reapply the original file to your vehicle. 9.3 I have received my modified file but cannot get it to write to the car It may be that your Kline has been blocked for communication. Please check to ensure you have no DTC codes. Try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes ensuring both terminals have been removed. If possible touch the two terminals together off of the battery to clear any residual power. Reconnect and try writing the modified file again. If the error persists then please turn your ignition on and leave on for at least 30 minutes but ideally 45 minutes then retry the process. 9.4 My car went in for a service and now my modified file will not load It is a possibility that the main dealer has applied a software update to your vehicle. Contact Celtic Tuning direct with details of what error message you are receiving. 9.5 I did not reset my previous car to standard before selling it and now my device will not allow me to erase it As instructed in the manual all vehicles require resetting in order to erase the device. The device is now locked and will requiring a manufacturer reset. This will result in being without your device for up to 1 month and will incur carriage and reset costs. 9.6 I have been asked for an error log. How do I save and upload this?
