CD, providing you with updates that will keep your system “State of the Art”. The HDMD® is a Class I medical device intended to be used as an accessory to various surgical cameras to record video and static images during surgical procedures and operations.

Med X Change HDMD® system. Networking The HDMD® System is network ready and can be quickly deployed across a network. Because the system has been left open, a network administrator can quickly bring the system online. TCP/IP and NetBUEI have been loaded to support drive mapping, network piping, and local intranet web access to the videos and still images using NT authentication.

• To connect a monitor, attach a DVI Cable from the HDMD® DVI Out to the EDID Adaptor DVI In. Attach a second DVI Cable from the EDID Adaptor DVI Out to the Monitor DVI In.
III. Record Starting A Recording / Taking A Still Image 1. To start a new recording, tap the ‘New’ button. The ‘Recording Information’ tab will open. (Figure 3-1) 2. The ‘Recording Information’ tab displays the name of the recording, any Fields that have been assigned & their corresponding Values.
III. Record (continued) Additional Recording Information 1. STATUS tab displays information on current segment length, total recording time and disk usage. (Figure 3-3) You can also change the quality of the video, and enable remote storage. For more information on remote storage and archiving, see page 25.

III. Record (continued) Annotate and Delete Last Still Image (Figure 3-7) allows the user to either annotate or delete the last still image taken. 1. To annotate the last still image, click the “A” button. On the popup keyboard, add the annotation and click Enter. 2.
Playback Video Playback and Still Image Viewing The Playback page is for video playback and still image viewing. This can be for the current session or any previously recorded session. For video playback: 1. Select the ‘Videos’ tab (Figure 4-1). 2. Select a recording session from the ‘Select Recording’ dropdown select box. 3.

Playback (continued) Annotate and Delete Videos and Images (Figure 4-3) allows the user to either annotate or delete a video or image. 1. To annotate a video/image, click the “A” button on the desired file. On the popup keyboard, add the annotation and click Enter. 2. To delete a video/image, click the “X” button on the desired file. Burn Media Single Recording Single Recording allows for recording one or more video/image(s) from a single recording session (Figure 5-1). 1. Select the Recording from which to burn videos and/or images. 2. Select the Video(s) and/or Images(s) you would like to burn, by tapping the check box over the thumbnail. 3.
Burn Media (continued) Burning to CD/DVD Insert a blank CD-R, DVD-R or BD-R into the recorder drive tray. 1. Select the desired Video(s) and/or Still(s) from either Single Recording or Multiple Recording (Figure 5-3). 2. Use the Locate Disk button to re-read the disk size if another disk is inserted. 3.
Burn Media (continued) DCIM Format DCIM Format allows for HDMD files to be copied to a SD card (via USB to SD adaptor) and then get plugged into the Apple® iPad® camera connection Kit adaptor for file transfer to iPad. Printing Printing Still Images The Print page allows for printing still images from one or multiple recordings. 1. Select the Recording to print. (Figure 6-1) 2. Select the Page Layout. Layout can also be designated as default by tapping the Set as Default button, which will also retain the number of copies and the default printer.
VII. Disk Management Disk Management Disk Management allows for the easy deletion of recordings from the hard drive. It features a built-in viewer to preview the recordings before deleting them, as well as additional recording file information. Additionally, the recording capacity indicator on the Record Page will begin to flash when the hard drive capacity drops below 10%. If this happens, old files may be selected for deletion from the Disk Management page to ensure there is plenty of disk space. To delete recordings: 1. Select the recordings to delete in the ‘Select Recordings to Delete or Modify’ window by tapping to highlight them and then tapping the ‘Select’...
Mobile Med X Mobile With the Med X Mobile application, videos created on the HDMD can be transferred to an iPad®, iPhone® or iPod® touch while still in the OR. Videos can be transferred wirelessly or copied to an SD card via the iPad Camera connection kit and a SD card reader.

The temporary folder will always be purged from the hard drive upon closing the software. If you wish to keep the temporary files, uncheck the box labeled “Remove all temporary files on close”. To transfer files: • From the drop down menu, select the folder(s) to be transferred. • Select the Destination to transfer the folder(s) to. • Click Transfer. You can always rejoin any network you wish to connect to later with the proper password. If you connect to a HDMD wireless network and then walk away from it with your device, the iPhone or iPad is likely to connect to the closest “known” network the moment that you are too far away from the HDMD to see its wireless broadcast.

VIII. Mobile (continued) If the connection and the IP address are correct and you still can’t transfer: 1. Go to the iPhone or iPad Network Settings. Tap the blue arrow next to the HDMD network and use the “Forget this Network” button in the Wi-Fi Network settings to permanently disconnect. (You may have to attempt to join another wireless network to disconnect completely.) This will delete all previously arranged settings for the HDMD network that may be wrong.
Remote Storage Location field to designate this as your preferred remote storage location. This becomes the default location for your HDMD system to record to only when remote storage is enabled. To record to the HDMD® internal hard drive again, you must uncheck remote storage. Note: When recording HD Video to a Remote Storage Location, do not use a USB Flash drive. An external hard drive is needed because of bandwidth requirements.

Settings (continued) Watermark Tab (SD Video Only) This tab allows you to apply a watermark to your recordings. The selected item(s) will appear in the lower right corner of each recording. (Figure 9-5) 1. Active Checking this box activates the watermark feature. 2. There are four types of watermarks available. Any one, or combination of the four, can be used: • Include Image - The image must be loaded into the proper folder, and meet certain file restrictions, as noted on this tabbed page. • Text on right side - If this is selected, the text (Date, User Name) will slightly overlap the image, if an image is used. If this is un-selected, the text will not overlap the image, it will be placed to the left of the image.
4. Check a field and then tap the ‘Move Up’ or ‘Move Down’ buttons to move it up or down the list. 5. Tap the ‘Cancel’ button to exit. Enable Recording Info watermark by checking the box to the left of a field. A combination of up to four different text fields can be used in the watermark. If the surgeon presses the record loop from the hand switch, no matter what mode the HDMD®(FL) is in, the HDMD®(FL) will stop what it is doing and switch over to loop mode and start recording. 1. To set optimum zoom, push the joystick to the 12 o’clock position and the microscope will automatically adjust to the preset optimum zoom for IR. 2. To record, push the joystick to the 9 o’clock position once. This will put the HDMD®(FL) in FL-800 mode; raise the light, turn on the IR filter, turn on the DIC-500/DIC-700, and switch cameras. 3. To stop, push the joystick to the 9 o’clock position again. This will stop the recording of a loop, lower the light, remove the IR Filter, change cameras back to the normal light camera, and turn off the DIC-500/DIC-700.

XIII. System Compliance Statements System Compliance Statements & Tables Electrostatic Discharge Precaution When using USB devices do not touch the USB ports. Contacting the ports may create electrostatic discharge (ESD) which may cause the system to freeze and prevent the USB peripherals from functioning properly. Before restarting the computer, attempt to restore functionality by unplugging the USB device and re-plugging it back into the port.
