To clean the inside of the water reservoir for the Cuisinart STM1000U, follow these steps:

1. Fill the water reservoir to the maximum level with equal parts of water and white vinegar (not cider or wine vinegar).
2. Plug the unit into a socket with the glass dish and lid in place.
3. Set the timer for 59 minutes and begin steaming.
4. When the timer sounds, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before pouring out the vinegar solution.
5. Rinse the water reservoir, glass dish, and lid several times with fresh, cold water.
6. Fill the reservoir with cold water, place it on the unit, and set the timer for 30 minutes to begin steaming. This removes any residual vinegar.

This process helps maintain optimal steam production and extends the steamer's lifespan.
