Electronic Code Switches Gen eral de scrip tion The electronic code switches are specially designed for safe engine control and to prevent unauthorized personnel to handle or work with a specific engine or installation. A choice of five functions can be pre-selected to handle emergency situations. All the devices have an OR-wired sense input to switch the machine immediately off after detecting an incoming signal from one of the connected devices.

Electronic Code Switches Device configuration Auto mai tic turn off de lay The ECS is provided with a function to switch the power off when the system is not used for a certain period. This function looks to the voltage level of the sense input line (grey wire). A sense input (grey wire,) when connected to the GND wire (blue) via a switch, is used to indicate the need for automatic switch off.

Electronic Code Switches Con fig ur ing the de vice for ac cess con trol In access control mode the ECS must activate the switch for a short period (seconds or minutes). If the access seconds register is >0 the ECS is automatically set in access mode. If the number of seconds is less or equal then 60 the this number is treated as hold time in seconds.

This means that if the input (grey wire) is switched to 0V ( blue wire) the installation is supposed to be in save operating state.
  • Page 19: Emer Gency Stop

Electronic Code Switches Emer gency stop The basic principle of the emergency stop is based upon a common input sensing line triggering on a low voltage level or a negative edge coming from one or more switches or sensors. The sense line is normally kept at a high voltage level.
