OVERVIEW
Below are the steps you need to follow to begin using your Kensington KS-TB-100 portable turbidity meter. This
manual provides a step-by-step guide to help you operate the meter.
UNPACKING METER CONTENTS
Before unpacking the meter and its contents, ensure that the working conditions meet the following conditions:
1. Relative humidity is less than 80%.
2. Ambient temperature is greater than °C and less than 60°C
3. No potential electromagnetic interference.
INCLUDED ACCESSORIES
The KS-TB-100 portable turbidity meter includes;
1. Glass sample vials
2. Calibration standards 0, 10, 200 and 1000 NTU
3. Lint-free cloth
4. 9V battery
OPERATING PRINCIPLES
The KS-TB-100 portable turbidity meter operates on the nephelometric principle of turbidity measurement and is
designed to meet the criteria specified in ISO 7027.
The following figure shows basic optical system of the meter. It includes a light source and a detector to monitor the
light scattered at 90° with respect to the incident beam.

    User Manual KS-TB-100 | Portable Turbidity Meter 3. Press ◄ or ► key to set the year, press ENTER key to confirm. The meter shows current date and time (Format: mm-dd, hh-mm). 4. Press ◄ or ► key to set the date and time, press ENTER key to confirm until the meter returns to measurement mode.

    KS-TB-100 | Portable Turbidity Meter SELECTING MEASUREMENT MODE The KS-TB-100 has two measurement modes. These are single and continuous. 1. Press and hold the CAL key to enter setup mode. 2. Press ◄ or ► key until the display show ‘test/P-07 3.
  • Page 8 8. Avoid spillage of water in the sample chamber. It may cause damage the meter. 9. The KS-TB-100 portable is calibrated with Formazin Standards at the factory and does not require user calibration before use.

    User Manual KS-TB-100 | Portable Turbidity Meter THE CALIBRATION PROCESS 1. Press CAL key, the display shows “2/CAL” indicating that the meter will perform the 2 points calibration 2. If necessary, press ◄ or ► to select the number of calibration points (2 to 5 points).

Press ENTER key, the “vial” icon begins flashing. 10. Wait for the measured value to stabilize, the “vial” icon will disappear on the display.

Factors such as clean sample vials, positioning of vial in the sample chamber, covering the vial with the light shield lid, meter calibration and the proper removal of bubbles.

    User Manual KS-TB-100 | Portable Turbidity Meter SINGLE MEASUREMENT FOR HIGH TURBIDITY SAMPLES 1. The high turbidity samples (>1100 NTU) must be diluted before measurement. 2. The dilution water can be obtained by filtering deionized water through a <0.45µm filter membrane.
