Mechanical Considerations The sensor package, the remote module, and the cables of the CDRPan system are mounted outside of the patient area to ensure patient safety and reliable equipment operation.

    1.4 Before You Start Installing CDRPan Prior to installing CDRPan on your panoramic system, please perform the following checks. Make sure your panoramic system is operating properly. Familiarize yourself with the installation steps before performing them. Determine the location of your computer. This will be useful when you install the Remote Module and need to run cables between it and your computer.

    2.2 Tools and Materials To install the sensor and codestrip, you will need the following tools and materials. A. Allen key (3/32 in.) to adjust clearance between encoder and codestrip. B. Phillips screwdriver to install sensor clip. C. Fine-point marker or pencil to draw guideline for codestrip. B1051101 Rev.

    3. Sensor and Codestrip 3.1 Install Sensor Assembly and Sensor Clip A. Rotate the drum away from the faceplate aperture. B. Carefully slide the sensor assembly into the aperture until the upper guide is seated firmly at the top of the aperture slit and the lower guide fits in bottom of aperture. C.

    3.2 Route Sensor Cable A. Use cable clamp to secure sensor cable inside the faceplate. Continue attaching clamps and holders to feed cable along contours of the panoramic machine. B. Route cable to the top of the panoramic machine, following the edge nearest the control panel.

    3.4 Prepare to Install Codestrip A. Sight the encoder from the edge of the faceplate, and then mark that spot using a fine- point marker or pen. B. Rotate the drum, marking a straight line around it. This line will be used for aligning and mounting the codestrip.

    3.5 Install Codestrip A. Position the codestrip along the guideline drawn in the step above. B. Remove protective layer from mounting tape and apply the codestrip with adhesive side towards drum. Ensure there are NO kinks or bubbles when the codestrip is applied.

    3.6 Clearance Adjustments A. Adjust the encoder section of the sensor assembly to approximately 1 mm from the codestrip on the drum. Use the Allen key (3/32 in.) to tighten the hinge links on the encoder. B. With X-ray source off, move the rotating arm of the panoramic machine to verify that the sensor cable does not kink, bind, or pull out of clips when the rotating arm is in motion.

    4. Remote Module, Power Supply, and PCI Board 4.1 Install Remote Module 4.1.1 Tools and Materials To install the remote module, you will need velcro patches to secure the module to the top of the panoramic machine, and a screwdriver to secure the sensor cable connector to the remote module.

    D. The cables on the opposite side of the remote module (power supply and PCI datacable) will be connected after the power supply and the PCI board installation procedures are performed. 4.2 Install Power Supply 4.2.1 Tools and Materials To install the power supply, you will need cable holders and clamps (P/N B4700140) to secure the cable along the side of the panoramic machine and up to the remote module.

    4.3 Install PCI Board 4.3.1 Tools and Materials To install the PCI board you will need a small screwdriver to remove the cover from your computer; to secure the PCI board in its slot, and to secure one end of the data cable to the remote module and the other end to the PCI board.
