    A dirty surface on the solar panel will not let in enough sunlight to allow the batteries to charge. This will shorten battery life, and cause the light to malfunction. Periodically clean the solar panel with a clean cloth and water. Before storing the unit, slide the On/Off Switch to the Off position.
