NOTICE The Carefree auto retract system is a premier electronic auto- retract system that provides protection against adverse elements; but no auto- retract system is a guarantee against severe or destructive weather; the effects of wind and rain on an awning are unpredictable and may cause severe damage to the awning and/or vehicle. - Page 8 Carefree of Colorado – C ATTERY EPLACEMENT URRENT ONFIGURATION The motion sensor uses two (2) “AAA” alkaline batteries. Batteries are available at local battery outlets. Open the awning to access the motion sensor that is located in the lead rail on the motor side of the awning.

The BT12 Wireless Control System offers several options to enhance your awning experience. OEM’s may install these options as a standard offering or can be added to your system at a later date. Contact your Carefree dealer about these options. -

White (monotone) LEDs are a popular option providing lighting beneath the awning. Factory installed LEDs are located in the lead rail. The BT12 Control System provides controls to allow you to set the lights to match your preference with ON/OFF and dimming controls through the Carefree Connects Mobile App and/or the BT Remote. -

ETTING THE YSTEM INTO AIRING Peripheral devices (such as remotes and smart devices with the Carefree Connects app) must be paired to the BT12 Control Module. There are two methods to set the system into pairing mode. Using the Awning Retract Function: Turn power to the awning ON. - Page 12 The power switch (see page 6) must be on for the MPORTANT extend/retract functions to be active using the standard switch operation, the Carefree Connects Mobile App and the BT Remote. The BT Motion Sensor is disabled when the switch is OFF.

Carefree of Colorado ANUAL VERRIDE If power to the vehicle is not available, the awning can be safely retracted using the manual override located on the idler (right) end of the case. There are two configurations of the Freestyle RM. The original configuration is identified by the five (5) screws in the endcap. -

RM A REESTYLE WNING WNING Maintaining a Carefree Awning is easy. Just follow these basic steps: Always operate the awning according to the instructions. Periodically check that the fasteners are tight. Tighten if necessary. Keep the awning fabric and arms clean. -

Carefree of Colorado OISE After a period of use, the arm knuckle joints may slide together slightly making a squeaking or squealing noise; this is normal and not a reason for concern. Our awning is beeping. We replaced the batteries with new ones and it will still beep about every 30-40 seconds. We have pulled the fuse in our fuse box in the past to make it stop. Doing this we have to run the awning out, pull the fuse, then put it back in to bring the awning in. This has been going on for some time. After doing this, the awning will stop beeping for a while but in a few weeks it will start doing it again, Any ideas as to what to do, outside of replacing the batteries again, which we have done several times?
The Carefree BT12 awning beeps every 30 seconds when the motion sensor batteries are low. If the beeping continues after replacing the batteries, possible causes include:
1. Incorrect Battery Installation – Ensure the new batteries are properly installed according to the instructions.
2. Faulty or Low-Quality Batteries – Use fresh, high-quality batteries to ensure proper function.
3. Power Switch Position – Confirm the power switch is ON for the system to reset and recognize the new batteries.
4. Sensor or System Malfunction – If the issue persists, the motion sensor or control module may need troubleshooting or replacement.
The awning should operate normally once the correct batteries are installed.

@Mr. Anderson We have replaced batteries several times. The thing that puzzles us is that it will function normally for some time and then it starts to act up. Last time it started acting up, we just took the fuse out after we ran it out or ran it in. Did this for several weeks. Then we just left it in after running it out and it didn't beep or run 1/2 way in for several weeks. Today it just started beeping again. The batteries are less than 3 months old.
