*Relaxation shrinkagecan
occurin
knitfabricsthathavebeenimproperly
stretchedand elongatedby the manufacturer. W henthis occurs,garmentmay
be pressedback into shapeafter eachwash and dry cycle.

shrinkageis causedwhenstarchor sizing(in some
fabrics)is graduallyremovedby laundering. M aybe noticedin oldergarments
thathavebeen launderedmany timeswithoutpreviousshrinkage. T reatas for

~Shrinkagecausedby overheatingoccursin certainknit fabricsthathave
been heat-shaped.Whenwashing,dryingor ironingtemperaturesexceedthe
temperaturesused to shapeset, shrinkagemay occur.Thiscannotbe corrected,
but it can be preventedby washingin cold or warmwater;dryingon low heat.

oLeavingclothesin dryer aftertumblingstops.Removeclothespromptlyand
hang themimmediately.
*Toomfiy itemsin dryer.Dry onlyone washerload at a time.Do not
combineloads.
@ Toofew items in dryer.If dryingonlyone article,add two or moresimilar
articles,even if dry,to insurepropertumbling.
oImproperloads.AvoidlaunderingheavyPermanentPressitems,such as work
clothes,with lighterPermanentPressitems, suchas shirtsor blouses.do not
wash or dry PermanentPress withregularlaundry.
*Toomany clothesin washer.Itemsmusthaveroomto movefreely.
PermanentPressloadsshouldalwaysbe smallerthanregularloads...

*Use of incorrectwash and dry cycies.Use Pemanent Press washcycle
whichprovidesa cool-downrinse to minimizewrinkling.Also,use Permanent
Press (Medium)dryingcycle.
@ Incorrectwaterlevel.Use largewaterlevel for mediumload;mediumlevel
or half full for smallload.
~Washingrepeatedlyin too hot water.Washin coolor warmwaterwith
plentyof detergent.
oAccumulationof lime scaledue to use of carbonatedetergents. I f you must
use a non-phosphate detergent,avoidthe use of a high-carbonate detergent.
*Failureto use fabric softener.Properuse of fabricsoftenerwill
minimizewrinkling.
