Introduction
Please read the entire users guide before using the frame. Visit www.
last-bikes.com to check if your revision of this guide is the latest revi-
sion.
CAUTION - In the case of non-compliance with these instructions, the
function of the product will be impaired, which may lead to injuries with
serious consequences and the loss of the product guarantee.
Intentional use
LAST suspension frames are designed for use on non motorized bicycles
only. The frame is inceredibly strong, but incidental or repeated abuse or
crashes can damage the frame and reduce it´s structural strength and
useful life. Remember that extreme riding is dangerous and that you
ride on your own risk. Use safety gear and ride carefully.
The LAST COAL, CLAY and GLEN are intended for use according to ca-
tegory 4 desribed in ASTM F2043-13 Standard Classification for Bicycle
Usage.
Category 1 - This is a set of conditions for the operation of a bicycle on a
regular paved surface where the tires are intended to maintain ground
contact.
Category 2 - This is a set of conditions for the operation of a bicycle that
includes Condition 1 as well as unpaved and gravel roads and trails with
moderate grades. In this set of conditions, contact with irregular terrain
and loss of tire contact with the ground may occur. Drops are intended
to be limited to 15cm (6") or less.
Category 3 - This is a set of conditions for operation of a bicycle that in-
cludes Condition 1 and Condition 2 as well as rough trails, rough unpaved
roads, and rough terrain and unimproved trails that require technical
skills. Jumps and drops are intended to be less than 61cm (24").
Category 4 - This is a set of conditions for operation of a bicycle that
includes Conditions 1, 2, and 3, or downhill grades on rough trails at
speeds less than 40 km/h (25 mph), or both. Jumps are intended to be
less than 122cm (48").
Category 5 - This is a set of conditions for operation of a bicycle that
includes Conditions 1, 2, 3, and 4; extreme jumping; or downhill grades
on rough trails at speeds in excess of 40 km/h (25 mph); or a combina-
tion thereof.
• CAUTION - Maximum fork lenght (axle to crown) is 572 mm for COAL,
CLAY and GLEN. Run the frame only with the shocks offered as original
equipment. Fitting other shocks needs to be approved by LAST.
• Removing the surface finish (paint, powder coating, anodizing) and ri-
ding the frame without appropriate surface finish is dangerous and will
void the warranty. Removing the surface finish increases the corrosion
rate of the frame material and it´s structural strength will be drastically
reduced.
• Assembly, maintenance, repairs and inspection work must be carried
out by professional bike mechanics or similar qualified persons using
the required tools.
Useful life of the frame
The useful life of every frame is finite and limited. Useful life depends
on many factors, such as rider weight, frame design, riding style, mi-
leage, etc.. Lighter frames typically have a shorter useful life. The use
of high quality materials and manufacturing processes may expand the
useful life, but still the useful life remains limited. Therefore regular
inspection of the frame is very important for your safety.

CAUTION - Inspection of the frame
Before every use, make sure, all bolds are tightened properly by applying
the check torque. The bolts must not twist during the check, otherwise
they must be glued in once again. Use a torque wrench and respect the
following values for check and assembly:
- M14 bolts on swingarm, rocker, link 35 Nm (25 Nm checking torque)
- M8 shock mount 15-20 Nm (check torque 12 Nm)
- M6 shock mount 10-12 Nm (check torque 8 Nm)
- M16x1 axle insert 25 Nm (check torque 20 Nm)
- M12x1 rear axle 8-12 Nm
Alle bolts must be glued with medium thread locking glue.
- M3 Cable guide bolt 0,5 Nm
- M5 cable guide and bottle cage bolts 2,5 Nm
- COAL, CLAY: M4 derailleur hanger bolt 2,5 Nm
- GLEN: M5 derailleur hanger bolt 5 Nm
You must inspect your frame regularly to ensure that no cracks reduce
it´s structural strengt. Before every ride check the area where down tube
and top tube are welded to the head tube. Every week or every 5th ride
check the complete frame for cracks. Give special attention to the weld
seams and the surrounding areas. If you had a crash or exposed your
frame to rough riding, check it directly after the incident. Replace cra-
cked or bent parts and frames directly.
Maintenance of the frame
Under normal conditions the frame does not need maintenance besides
it´s regular inspections. Refer to the instructions of the component ma-
nufacturers on how to service the components. Do not use any solvents
or detergents when cleaning the frame.
