1. Safety information Safe operation of these products can only be guaranteed if they are properly installed, commissioned, used and maintained by qualified personnel (see Section 1.11) in compliance with the operating instructions. General installation and safety instructions for pipeline and plant construction, as well as the proper use of tools and safety equipment must also be complied with. - Page 4 Determine the correct installation situation and direction of fluid flow. iv) Spirax Sarco products are not intended to withstand external stresses that may be induced by any system to which they are fitted. It is the responsibility of the installer to consider these stresses and take adequate precautions to minimise them.
- Page 5 Ensure that any pressure is isolated and safely vented to atmospheric pressure before attempting to maintain the product, this is easily achieved by fitting Spirax Sarco depressurisation valves type DV (see separate literature for details) and consider double isolation (double block and bleed) and the locking or labelling of closed valves.

3. Installation Notes: 1. Before actioning any installation observe the 'Safety information' in Section 1. 2. Apply the appropriate grease to SGS40 stainless steel screwed units to avoid cold welding. Warning The gaskets used in these units contain thin stainless steel support rings which may cause physical injury if not handled and disposed of carefully. -

4. Commissioning After installation or maintenance ensure that the system is fully functional. Carry out tests on any alarms or protective devices. 5. Operation The sight glass promotes turbulence in the sight glass when the fluid is passing through it. The turbulent flow inside the sight glass permits any fluid to be detected. - Page 14 6. Maintenance and Spare parts 6.1 Maintenance Note: Before actioning any maintenance programme observe the 'Safety information' in Section 1. How to renew the windows and gaskets: Isolate the sight glass and allow the pressure and temperature to reduce to ambient conditions.
