The CAT- -5 Broadband Remote Access Module (CAT- -5 B- -SAM),
part number SYSTXBBRCT01, is powered with a field- -supplied
2
24VAC transformer. A 120VAC supply must be near the mounting
2
location when using the accessory plug- -in 24VAC transformer.
2
Provisions must be made to secure the accessory plug- -in
transformer to the outlet. The D- -wire (24VAC) from the

Evolution
system must NOT be used to power the Remote
3
Access Module, and should not be connected to the SAM
module.
3
This instruction covers the physical installation and start up of the
3
CAT- -5 B- -SAM. Use this instruction to guide the actual
3
installation process after the Evolution system(s) have been
3
installed. One CAT- -5 B- -SAM is capable of handling two
Evolution systems.
3
3
The CAT- 5 B- SAM is used differently for previous generation
4
Evolution systems using the UID/UIZ wall controls versus the
4
newer Evolution
4
For previous generation systems using the UID/UIZ wall
controls, the SAM connects to a network router and allows remote
4
connectivity for up to two Evolution systems within the same
4
building. The Evolution system owner as well as authorized dealer
can monitor and control the system via the Internet. The CAT- -5
B- -SAM communicates through the homeowner's cable or DSL
Internet service. Broadband Internet service with a network router
is required. The CAT- -5 B- -SAM is not compatible with dial- -up
Internet service. The SAM also provides an interface to Home
Automation systems, utilizing either the RS-232 serial port
connection, or the web page function, available on the Local Area
Network (LAN) within the home or building.
