- Page 2 user manual –cooking bike USER GUIDE GASTRONOMY UNIT The unit is made of robust and lasting materials which can easily be cleaned and maintained: ‐ Cooking insert: made of stainless steel Clean with heavy duty detergent and the rough side of the sponge. ‐ Counter surface: compact panel for exterior use Clean with heavy duty detergent; use the rough side of the sponge carefully. ‐ Storage volume: made of aluminum honey‐comb panels with cleanable roller coated surface. Clean with regular detergent, avoid the rough side of the sponge – you might scratch the surface. If the big lid is flipped open, the countertop is 265cm long. The big lid is heavy due to its size and to what is stored within. It therefore needs to be opened and closed carefully in compliance with the following steps: ‐ Activate the parking brake before opening the big lid. If the bike starts moving during the process of opening the big lid this might lead to an uncontrolled movement which can result in damage or injury. ‐ If the big lid is too heavy for you it might be necessary to get assistance from a second person to open and close it. A controlled movement has to be ensured in order to avoid damage and injuries. ‐ The big lid contains storage space for light objects. Maximum load (for big lid storage space): 33lbs. - Page 3 user manual –cooking bike WARNING: if the handlebar is positioned too high when opening the big lid, this might lead to damage of the bike compartments mounted on the handlebar and to the gastronomy unit. ‐ Before clapping the big lid shut – make sure that all storage compartments are properly closed. An uncontrolled opening of the storage compartments when the big lid in an upright position can cause property damage or injury. ‐ Make sure there are no objects on the working surface when clapping the big lid shut. The objects could be crushed and damaged and cause damage to the working surface. ‐ WARNING: Beware of the hinge when clapping the big lid shut. Do not place any body part in this area when opening or closing the big lid as this could lead to severe injuries. Take care of yourself and others, especially children. It is permanently installed at the bottom right compartment under the handlebar and connected to the charger which is installed in the bottom left compartment. ‐ The battery charges automatically when the bike is connected to a power plug. ‐ The right LED light indicates the charging status: 1. red LED = charging 2. green LED = fully charged ‐ Charger and battery management systems are designed to automatically stop charging when the battery is fully charged ‐ The battery management system is equipped with a battery protection device. To start the E‐Bike you need to turn the key on the main display located on the side of the gastronomy unit to connect the battery to the E‐Bike controller (installed at the bottom compartment of the gastronomy unit). 2. (100 kg) • Maximum tire pressure: 65 psi • Be sure to read the entire manual before taking your paul&ernst bike out for a ride. • Discontinue use if any part becomes damaged or broken and contact the nearest bike repair workshop or contact us directly. • Do not ride the bike on roads with a high volume of automobile traffic. • Balance your cargo load. When loading your transport volume or refrigerator/freezer unit, put the main load near the center to optimize stability. Avoid heavy loads only at the front of the bike unit. • Before each ride, check to make sure that nothing will interfere with the braking, pedaling, or steering of the vehicle. • Pick a controlled environment, away from cars, other cyclists, obstacles, or other hazards to familiarize yourself with the vehicle. • Familiarize yourself with the braking action. Test the brakes at slow speeds. WARNING: Heavy loads extend the braking distance. Leave enough space between yourself and other bikers or road users to ensure braking action under any condition even with a heavy transport unit. • Use the parking brake whenever the vehicle is in a stationary position – especially when setting up and opening the gastronomy unit. Failure to activate the parking brake can result in vehicle damage or serious injury. • If you encounter any mechanical or operating issues during your initial test ride or thereafter, you should contact the nearest bike repair workshop or us directly. This will optimize riding performance and minimize the potential for dangerous riding situations. • Ride with extra care on uneven surfaces, especially when riding up or down hills. MAINTENANCE Your paul&ernst bike is designed and built to last. With regular maintenance and care you can greatly extend the life expectancy of your paul&ernst bike and maximize the performance capabilities. Any mechanical repairs and adjustments should be performed by a professional bicycle mechanic. Wear and Tear If you expose your paul&ernst bike to various kinds of weather or ride it frequently, components and parts may reach their wear limit before its warranty expires. In the event that components start to show signs of wear, visit a bike repair workshop or contact us directly for advice before continuing use. The following components are subject to function‐related wear: • Tires • Rims, hubs, axles, and spokes • Steering components and bearings • Brake discs, cables, and hand levers Bike and gastronomy units are subject to wear and tear due to the following: • Cargo load • Intensity of use • Riding habits • Storage conditions • Weather conditions and climate factors including • UV exposure • Humidity • Dirt • Temperature • Moisture • Salt water • Road salt Visually inspect you paul&ernst bike before every ride. This includes checking the components and the condition of the gastronomy unit. Use the following process to securely fold the paul&ernst bike frame: 1. Carefully rotate the rear part of the bike counterclockwise to just beyond the right pipe of the movable handlebar. 2. Lower the handlebar to the floor surface and firmly tighten the screws in order to secure the stability of the bike. 3. Make sure that there is no heavy load in the front storage unit. This could lead to instability and cause the bike to tip over once the frame pipe is folded. 4. Ideal temperature: room temperature (the battery discharges more quickly in low‐temperature environments) 3. State of health charging current 40%‐70% (WARNING: avoid long term storage of a discharged battery – this can lead to permanent damage) 4. The battery discharges slowly when not in use. The charging current should be controlled once every second month. SERVICE General Warnings 1. Technological advances have made bicycles and their components more complex, and the pace of innovation is constantly increasing. It is impossible for this manual to provide all the information required to properly repair and/or maintain your paul&ernst bike. In order to help minimize the chances of an accident and possible injury, it is critical that you have any repair or maintenance, which is not specifically described in this manual, performed by a professional bicycle mechanic. Also, keep in mind that your individual maintenance requirements will be determined by everything from your riding style to the climatic conditions of where you live and ride. 2. Many bicycle service and repair tasks require special knowledge and tools. Service Intervals: Some service and maintenance can and should be performed by the owner and require no special tools or knowledge beyond what is presented in this manual. The following are examples of the type of service you could perform yourself. All other types of service, maintenance, and repair should be performed in a properly equipped facility by a qualified bicycle mechanic using the correct tools and procedures. 1. Following Break‐In Period: Your paul&ernst bike will last longer and work better if you break it in. Control cables, spokes, and chains may stretch and ‘seat’ when a new bike is first used and may require adjustments by a bicycle mechanic. Your ‘Mechanical Safety Check’ will help you identify some things that need readjustment 2. Before every ride: Mechanical safety check ...

As needed: If your paul&ernst bike has been exposed to water, sand, salt, or grit, or at least every 100 miles: clean your paul&ernst bike and lightly lubricate the chain’s rollers with a good quality bicycle chain lubricant. Wipe off excess lubricant with a lint‐free cloth. 4. After every 10 to 20 hours of riding: • Squeeze the front brakes and rock the paul&ernst bike forwards and backwards. If you feel it clunk with each movement, your brakes may need to be adjusted. Have a professional bike mechanic check it. • Grab one pedal and rock it toward and away from the centerline of the frame. Do the same with the other pedal. If either feels loose, have a bicycle mechanic check the pedals out. • Check the control cables and cable housings carefully. If you notice any rust, kinks, fraying, or other imperfections, have a bicycle mechanic replace them. • Squeeze each adjoining pair of spokes on either side of each wheel between your thumb and index finger. If any feel loose, have your bicycle mechanic check the wheel for tension and trueness. • Check the tires for excess wear, cuts, or bruises. • The front wheels can be detached in case parts have to be replaced (tubes, tires, spokes and rims) or if the foliation of the bike has to be replaced. We advise to have this repair / maintenance work done by a professional bike mechanic. 5. Before detaching the wheel, the braking device from the disc brake has to be detached. The braking device has to be unscrewed from the bike frame. The screws (2xinbus) are located underneath the exterior surface of the gastronomy unit pointing towards the center of the frame. 6. When the braking device is detached make sure that the bike frame is stably supported so that the wheel is elevated from the ground. 7. Unmount the center screw to detach the wheel from the axis. 8. WARNING: use proper force to mount the screws of the braking device and the center screw. If these components were to loosen up of fall out during a ride it could cause a serious accident. We therefore strongly advise to have this work done by a professional bike mechanic. • Check to make sure that all parts and accessories are still secure and tighten any which are not. 5. Every 100 hours: Take your paul&ernst bike to a bicycle repair workshop for a complete checkup. WARNING: like any mechanical device, your paul&ernst bike and its components are subject to wear and stress. Different materials and mechanisms wear or fatigue from stress at different rates and have different life cycles. If a component’s life cycle is exceeded, the component can suddenly fail, causing serious injury. While the materials and workmanship of your paul&ernst bike or of the individual components may be covered by a warranty for a specified period of time by the manufacturer, this is no guarantee that the ...

user manual –cooking bike LIMITED WARRANTY paul&ernst bike warrants that the vehicle including components, frame, gastronomy unit, and authorized accessories will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year. Please note, this warranty only extends to the original consumer buyer. This warranty does not cover defects or failures due to abuse, neglect, alteration, accidents, or wear and tear attributable to normal use. Defect resulting from improper assembly or installation of unapproved accessories not compatible with the paul&ernst bike you have purchased are not covered. At its option, paul&ernst GmbH will repair or replace, or refund the purchase price of any paul&ernst component, frame, gastronomy unit, or authorized accessory which is defective or fails to conform with this warranty under normal use and service. To obtain service under this warranty, contact paul&ernst directly. Repair and replacement of a defective paul&ernst (frame, components, gastronomy unit, or authorized accessory) or refund of the purchase price shall be the sole remedy of the buyer under this warranty, and in no event shall paul&ernst GmbH be liable for incidental or consequential damages, injury, losses or expenses. GENERAL WARNING By choosing to cycle, you assume the responsibility for that risk and, therefore, you must know and practice rules and guidelines for safe and responsible use and maintenance. Proper use and maintenance of your paul&ernst bike reduces the risk of injury. Because it is impossible to anticipate every situation and condition which can occur while riding, this manual makes no representation about the safe use of your paul&ernst bike under all conditions. There are risks associated with the use of any bicycle which cannot be predicted or avoided, and which are the sole responsibility of the rider.
