  • Page 5: Power Cooling Module Operation

    The appliance is designed to operate with two Power and Cooling Modules. Each of the PCM has a power supply and a dual-axis fan. During a critical condition, the system allows for a failure of one power supply while continuing normal operations. Two PCMs (and 775-0007-0200 Rev B © 2012 StorSimple, Inc.

    Caution: The battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, or burns. Do not disassemble, crush, or heat above 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) or incinerate. Replace the PCM battery with a battery provided by StorSimple only. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion.

    Welcome Thank you for purchasing a 5000/7000 series StorSimple appliance! This rack mount installation guide will walk you through the steps necessary to install your appliance in a standard 19” rack with front and rear posts. The installation consists of multiple steps each of which is discussed in the following sections.

  • Page 14 To complete the initial configuration, you’ll need to connect a serial console or a computer with terminal emulation to the StorSimple appliance. Use the serial cables and the accessories that came with your appliance. The serial connection must be set up as follows: 115.2Kbps, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, flow control none or XON/XOFF.
