SMARTSCAN MAGSAFE 785093 INSTALLATION SHEET GUIDE E SW1 DipSwitch Settings Rundown timer The rundown timer controls the period of time that the controller is in Amber condition (magnet ‘on’ safety output ‘off’). The two timers must be set the same. The timer allows time for the machine to come to a safe condition before the doors can be opened. Rundown timer selection is made via dipswitches 1 and 2. Timing options are 0, 2, 8 and 32 seconds. The system is dual circuit so there are 2 rundown timers to set. The dipswitch in the up position indicates that the setting has been selected. The rundown timer controls the period of time that the local access controller is in an Amber condition (magnet ‘on’ safety output ‘off’). The timer allows time for the machine to come to a safe condition before the doors can be opened. 1 2 Rundown time in seconds 0 X 2 X 8 X X 32 Dipswitches 3 to 7 are factory set for the standard 63mm plated magnets (785070M), dipswitch 4 in the up position. Dipswitch 8 is used for setting the even parity check. Note: Please ensure dipswitch 4 is in the up position and dipswitch 8 has been set correctly, see Set Even Parity section below. Set Even Parity Switch 8 is the parity switch. The switch settings are made fail safe with this switch. The controllers count how many of the 8 switches are in the up position. This must be an even number. In the example shown above, dip CD229/230707 9 ...

SMARTSCAN MAGSAFE 785093 INSTALLATION SHEET GUIDE switch 4 is selected making the initial selection an odd number, therefore dip switch 8 needs to be in the up position to make the total number of switches selected and even number. If the number of switches in the up position equals an even number then parity switch 8 must be in the down position. If the number of switches in the up position equals an odd number then parity switch 8 must be in the up position. Having set the switches in this way, if any switch subsequently fails, either on or off, the parity will go to odd and the fault will be detected. Note: If the parity check is set incorrectly, or changed while the control unit is in operation the system will go into a nonoperational condition. SMARTSCAN MAGSAFE 785093 INSTALLATION SHEET GUIDE G Magnet Extender Board Magnet connection board Magnet connection board showing showing 4 magnets connected magnet dipswitch selector Magnet Connection The magnets are connected via blocks of 4 terminals allocated to 1TB, 2TB, 3TB and 4TB. Each block of 4 terminals equals the connections for 1 magnet. Starting from 1TB on the left hand side the magnet wires are connected in the following colour sequence, 1TB1 = Brown, 1TB 2 = White, 1TB 3 = Blue and 1TB 4 = Black. This sequence is repeated across 2TB, 3TB and 4TB depending on how many magnets are being used. If the magnets are not connected in this sequence the system will go into a Lockout condition. The red dipswitch block is used to select the number of magnets which are being monitored, 14. A dipswitch set in the up position indicates that it has been selected. CD229/230707 11 ...

Status Output Drivers The magnet connection board also determines which magnets are in a closed position (for visual indication purposes). This information is fed to the LED indicators as shown above and is also available as a 24V DC status output signal for driving a PLC input (high or low) to indicate magnet status. The connection is made via 4 terminals situated at TB5 in the top right hand corner of the extender board, starting at the top with magnet 1 through to magnet 4 as shown. The current capacity of the outputs is 20mA per channel. Note: The 785071M (36mm) and 785070M (63mm) magnets cannot be used on the same control box. CD229/230707 12 ...

SMARTSCAN MAGSAFE 785093 INSTALLATION SHEET GUIDE H EStop Board The Estop board is fitted as standard and allows the user to connect an external emergency stop device to the Magsafe control unit. Activation of the Estop removes power to the control unit and magnets. The Estop board is used for connecting power to the system even if the Estop function is not being used. Estop board showing jumpers J1 and J2 The Emergency stop function is selected via the jumpers J1 and J2 on the E stop board shown above. Position the jumper on J2 if the Estop function is required or on J1 if not required. Note: In addition to these are 2 other jumpers located directly above the main control board. Please set these jumpers to the ‘ON’ position as well if the Estop function is required. Position pin 1 and 2 = ‘ON’ and position pin 2 and 3 = ‘OFF’. The jumpers on both the main PCB board and the E stop board must be in the same condition, either Estop selected or not selected. CD229/230707 13 ...

SMARTSCAN MAGSAFE 785093 INSTALLATION SHEET GUIDE TB1 is the location for the user terminal connections 1 through 13, positioned along the bottom of the EStop board. 1 TB1 +24V DC A regulated power supply is required, 2.5A Ripple <10% (diode protected) Protect with a 4A 250V fuse. The power supply must be stabilised with not more than 3% variation over the temperature range of the supply. This is because the voltage supplied to the magnet is not stabilised inside the control box. 2 TB1 Ground 3 TB1 0V 4 TB1 Connect one channel of the machines emergency stop circuit between terminals 4 TB1 and 5 TB1 and the second channel between terminals 6 TB1 and 7 TB1. Note: An internal circuit monitors for short circuits and switching disparity between the two input channels. If the inputs do not switch together (within 100ms of each other) the system will go into a lockout condition. This configuration meets the requirements for ‘control reliability’ and cannot be used in a single channel configuration. 5 TB1 (see 4 TB1 above) 6 TB1 (see 4 TB1 above) 7 TB1 (see 4 TB1 above) 8 TB1 Key A (ignore if using the Smartscan Local Access Controller) 9 TB1 Key A (ignore if using the Smartscan Local Access Controller) 10 TB1 Key B (ignore if using the Smartscan Local Access Controller) 11 TB1 Key B (ignore if using the Smartscan Local Access Controller) 12 TB1 External Device Monitor (EDM) Normally closed switch ...

SMARTSCAN MAGSAFE 785093 INSTALLATION SHEET GUIDE Note: In addition, Jumper J3 located at 3TB in the bottom right hand corner of the main control board, as shown opposite needs to be set to the ‘ON’ position if the EDM function is required. Position pin 1 and 2 = ‘ON’ and position pin 2 and 3 = ‘OFF’ To reset from a lockout condition it is necessary to remove the 24V DC supply from the Magsafe control unit and then reapply. If the EDM circuit is not used ensure the jumper is set to the ‘OFF’ position. 13 TB1 (see 12 TB1 above) When an Emergency stop is cleared it is necessary to use the Run/Enter selector switch to reset the control unit. E.g. turn the selector switch from Run to Enter and back to Run again. I Commissioning Fig. I shows the operations chart for the Magsafe system. Before installation read and understand the Installation Sheet provided. Pay particular attention to C and D. Every month check the entire installation paying particular attention to C and D.
