English Manual - Deltaco USB SATA/PATA adapter
Introduction
Thank you for buying this Deltaco adapter giving you the means of connecting most kind of
hard drives and CD/DVD readers to your PC's USB port. The adapter is designed for users
that need to handle many units and have no need for a more permanent instal la t i on.
This user guide describes how to connect and configure the adapter.
The package contains :
• 1 USB SATA/PATA adapter
• 1 power adapter
• 1 PATA to SATA power converter cable
• 1 SATA connection cable
• 1 USB2.0 Y- cable
• 1 manual (multi l i ngual )
Electrostatic discharges
An electrostat ic discharge from a finger or wire may seriously damage the disk drive,
components or other sensit ive parts. This type of discharges can shorten the lifespan of the
equipment.
Connect Disk drives
• 3.5" PATA (IDE) drives , and CD/DVD drives, are connected direct ly to the adapter
and the power adapter.
• 2.5" PATA drives are connected to the adapter. The Y- USB cable might be needed to
connect 2 separate USB ports in the PC or a powered USB-hub, as each port only can
provide 500mA. The disk may need more.
• SATA drives are connected with the red SATA cable and by the SATA / PATA power
cable to the power adapter.

N o drivers are needed for Win XP and Vista.

Configure the hard drive
If the instal le d hard drive is new and not found by Windows XP, it firs t has to be init ia ted,
parti t i oned and formatted in Windows control panel

Right click the unit to proceed with init ia te , create parti t i on and format according to the
instruct ions from the operating system.
NTFS- formatting is recommended for Windows XP.
Please observe that external ly connected FAT32 hard drives in Windows XP must be FAT32
formatted by Windows XP. Disks formatted in FAT32 by other operating systems might not
work.
When the steps above are ready, the hard drive will be found in the Windows explorer .
