                Preparing Your modu™ W device for Use    This chapter explains how what you need to do in order to start  using your modu™ W. This chapter includes the following  topics:  Install / remove the SD memory card  Charge your modu W  Turn on/off our modu W  Manage the lock screen  Change to sleep mode  Lock the modu W screen  Welcome wizard  Import contacts    Installing the MicroSD™ Memory Card  Make sure to always turn off your modu W before installing or  replacing the SD memory card. The purpose of the SD memory  card is to be able to store your pictures, music, and other files.  Turn off your modu W by pressing and holding the Power  key.  The Phone options menu appears.  Touch the Power off option.  A notification message appears:  Touch the OK button.  Turn your modu W so that the side is facing you.  Open the storage slot cover.  Hold the cover back, and place the SD card in its slot.  Push the SD card into your modu W.  12   ...

              Close the cover.          Removing the MicroSD™ Memory Card  Turn off your modu™ W by pressing and holding the Power  key.  The Phone options menu appears.  Touch the Power off option.  A notification message appears:  Touch the OK button.  Turn your modu W so that the side is facing you.  Open the storage slot cover.  Hold the cover back.  Press the SD card to eject it from its slot.  Remove the SD card  Close the cover.      Charging the Modu™ W Battery  Charge your modu W when first receiving it for two hours to  fully charge its battery.        NOTE: The modu W battery cannot be removed.      You can charge your modu W battery by connecting your modu  W to the AC adapter or by connecting it to the USB port on  your computer.  The following is an illustration and explanation of the charging  methods:  13 ...
  • Page 14                 » Charging Your modu™ W Battery Using the AC Adapter  Insert the AC plug into an electrical outlet.  Connect the other end of the AC adapter cable to the micro  USB port on the bottom of your modu™ W.    » Charging Your modu™ W Battery Using Your Computer  Insert the USB data cable into the computer's USB port.  Connect the other end of the USB data cable to the micro  USB port on the bottom of your modu W.              TIP: It is recommended that you use the AC adopter  and USB cable provided with your modu W package    only in order to charge the modu W battery.  Notice that the  (Charging) icon is displayed in the  status bar of the Home screen. When the battery is  fully charged a    (Full Battery) icon is displayed in  the status bar of the Home screen.      14   ...

              Turning Your modu™ W On / Off  Only after you installed the SD (storage) card, you can turn  your modu W and start to use it.  » Turning Your modu™ W On  Press and hold the Power key.  When using your modu W for the first time, you will be  prompted to set up your modu™ W by the welcome wizard.  The default screen displayed in the Lock screen.    » Turning Your moduW Off:  Press and hold the Power key.  The Phone options menu appears.  Touch the Power off option.  A notification message appears:  Touch the OK button.    » Managing the Lock Screen  You can access the following from the Lock screen:  Dialer – Touch and drag the right arrow to make a  call.  Home screen – Touch and drag the left arrow to  display the Home screen.  Notifications ‐ Touch and drag the arrow  downwards to view notifications.  Modu Portal ‐ Touch and drag the arrow upwards to  display the modu portal.    15   ...

              Changing to Sleep Mode When Not in Use  The purpose of changing the screen to sleep mode when not in  use is to save the battery’s power. If this option is on, the  modu™ W automatically goes into the sleep mode after a  certain time period (the default time period is 30 seconds), and  when wakes up the displayed screen will be the last screen you  were on.  Note: You will still be able to receive messages and calls while  the modu W screen is off.    Access the Home screen.  Press the Menu button.  The Menu appears:  Touch the Settings option.  The Settings screen appears:  Touch the Sound & display option.  The Sound & display menu appears:  Touch the Screen timeout option in the Display settings  section.  The Screen timeout screen displays.  Touch the relevant option button e.g. 1 minute, 2 minutes  etc.).  Press the Back button to return to the previous screen/s.    16   ...

              Locking / Unlocking Your modu W When Not in Use    You can protect that data on your modu™ W by locking your  modu W screen. The advantage of locking the screen is to  prevent accidental screen touches when the modu W is in your  backpack, purse, or pocket.  There are two locking options:  By the power key  By the locking pattern    Note: If a locking pattern option is enabled, when wanting to  unlock the screen, you will be required to draw the correct a  pattern to unlock it.  You will still be able to receive messages and calls while the  modu W is locked.    » Locking Your moduW Using the Power Key    To lock, press the Power key located on the right sideways  panel.  To unlock, press the Power key again.    » Locking Your modu W Using the Locking Pattern    To create the unlock pattern, access the Home screen.  Press the Menu key.  The Menu appears:  Touch the Settings option.  The Settings screen appears:  17   ...

              Touch the Settings option.  The Settings screen appears:  Touch the Security & location option.  The Security & location screen appears:  Scroll down to the Screen unlock pattern section.  Touch the Require pattern option.      NOTE: After five times you draw the unlock pattern    incorrectly, you will be promoted to wait for 30  seconds before you can retry.  Touch the Forgot pattern button in case you forgot  your unlock pattern. You will be asked to sign in to you  Email account in order to create a new screen unlock  pattern before the Home screen is displayed.    Setting Up Your modu W for the First Time Using the  Welcome Wizard    When turning on the modu W for the first time, you will be  prompt to set it up using a welcome wizard. First you will need  to sign in to your existing Email account (e.g. google, yahoo,  hotmail).    TIP: You need to know your Email account’s password  in order to sign in.        The following are the welcome wizard stages:  Connecting to the Wi‐Fi  Setting up mail  19   ...

                » Renaming a Folder    Access the Home screen.  Touch the Folders you wish to rename.  Touch and hold the folder’s title bar.  The Rename folder dialog box appears  Enter the desired folder name by touching the Folder name  field.  Type the folder name.      TIP: You can either use the full onscreen keyboard, or    the 16‐key pad.    Touch the Done button when done.  The Rename folder dialog box reappears.  Touch the OK button.    Basic Settings    This section explains the basic settings in order to use your  modu W prior the first use. This section includes the following  topics:  Volume adjustment  Date, time zone & time set up  Ringer settings set up  Language set up  Opening the Settings Screen  There are two ways to open the Settings screen.  34   ...

              Option  Description  Enables you to view the modu W status,  About phone  battery use, and legal information.  Adjusting the Volume  modu W enables you to control its volume by adjusting the  ringer volume which changed volume level of the ring tones.  You can also adjust the media volume which will affect the  volume level of the sound notifications and music or video  playback.  » Adjusting the Ringer Volume Using the Volume Keys:  Press the Volume Up (Plus) key or Volume Down (Minus)  key located at the left panel of the modu W.  The Ringer volume screen appears:  Adjust the ringer volume to your desired level.      NOTE: While on the lowest volume level, press once    on the Volume Down (minus) key to set the modu™ W  to Vibrate mode. Notice that the modu W vibrates and    (Vibrate Mode) icon appears on the status bar.    While on Vibrate mode, press once on the Volume  Down (minus) key to turn off the sound of your modu  W. Notice that the    (Speaker Mute) icon appears  on the status bar.      36 ...
