    Video Output What graphics card does my d3 4U v2.5 machine have? Your d3 4U v2.5 uses AMD’s Firepro V8800 graphics card. It is capable of driving 4 individual outputs at up to 2560x1600 pixels using the DisplayPort interface. What connections does the V8800 graphics card have? The V8800 graphics card has 4 DisplayPort connectors, please see example below: In order to use the DVI interface please use the Active DisplayPort adapters supplied with your d3 4u v2.5 system. For further information on DisplayPort adapters please see Active DisplayPort Adapters page of this document.
  • Page 5 What DisplayPort adapters should I use? There are three main types of DP adapters: • Passive Single Link • Active Single Link • Active Dual Link We recommend that you use the included Active DisplayPort adaters. Your d3 4u V2.5 system is supplied with four [Startech DP2DVIS] Active Single Link Adapters, as shown in the image below: Using Active DisplayPort adapters will allow you to output resolutions up to 1920x1200 pixels per DP output. The supplied adapters have been AMD Gold Certified. For more information on AMD Gold Certified adapters please visit the AMD website at: http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx Please note: If you use Passive Single Link adapters you will only be able to output onto two video outputs. This is due to the V8800’s clock timings. If possible always use Active DisplayPort adapters as it will give you the best performance and flexibility. Can I output more than 1920x1200 with DVI? Yes, If you want to output up to 2560x1600 pixels you will need to use Active Dual Link adapters [not included] Active Dual Link adapters will always have an external USB cable as they require extra power.

    Genlock What Genlock card does my d3 4u v2.5 have? Your d3 4u v2.5 uses the S400 Genlock card. The S400 card is AMD’s solution to achieve sync [Genlock] between multiple graphics cards [GPU’s] or to enable the GPU to be synced to an external House Sync. What connections does my S400 card have? Each S400 card has 1 x BNC connection for Blackburst or House Sync and 2 x RJ45 connections for daisy chaining multiple S400 cards together [1 x In & 1 x Out]. Further information For detailed help on the S400 card, please see the in-built help center in the Catalyst Control Center. To access the Catalyst Control Center Help please follow these steps: • Right-click on the Windows desktop • Select Catalyst Control Center from the options menu. • Select the question mark [?] icon in the top right of the Catalyst Control Center window.     Video Input What are the video inputs on my d3 4u v2.5? Your d3 4u v2.5 d3 system is equipped with 2 x Active Silicon Phoenix PHX-D20HDSDI capture cards. These cards have the ability to capture live video from either SD-SDI or HD-SDI video sources with up to four unique SD or two unique HD feeds per machine. What formats do my capture cards accept? • 525 NTSC • 625 PAL • 720p • 1080i • 1080p What connections do the capture cards have? How do I test the live video input outside of d3? Please note: It’s recommended that you check your live video input outside of d3 first.

    Removable Media Drives How are the removable drive bays arranged? Your d3 4u v2.5 machine ships with a single 512Gb OCZ Vertex 4 Solid State Drive (SSD) in drive bay 1. Out of the four drive bays there are two fast SATA3 drive bays (bays 1 and 2) and two SATA2 drive bays (bays 3 and 4).To ensure optimal performance always populate bay 1 and 2 first. The OCZ Vertex 4 is capable of 461.9 MB/s sequential read and 462.9 MB/s sequential write. Please note: If you ever need to replace or exchange your media drive it is recommend that you use a drive with similar read/write speeds. For further information please contact d3 support.   • Page 9 Audio What audio card does my d3 4u v2.5 have? Your d3 4u v2.5 uses a RME HDSP 9632 Hammerfall DSP pro audio card, which uses the latest 182 kHz AD- and DA- converters. Which connections does the RME card have? The RME card has four connections: • Analog In/Out [Via Analogue Breakout Cable - supplied] • Digital In/Out [Via Digital Breakout Cable - not included] • ADAT Out [8 Channels via optical cable - not included] • ADAT In [8 Channels via optical cable - not included] To connect the RME card to external devices, we recomend using the supplied Analogue Breakout Cable.   • Page 10 Audio Breakout Why do I need a breakout cable? For flexibility your d3 4u v2.5 comes with an Analog Breakout Cable which lets you choose which input/ output to use. What connections does the breakout cable have? Each d3 systems is supplied with a breakout cable for the RME HDSP 9632 audio card. 1 x HDSP 9632/HDSPe AIO: Analog breakout cable, balanced ( P/N BO9632XLRMKH ) This breakout cable provides the following inputs and outputs; • 1x Midi in ( 5 pin DIN ) • 1 x Midi out ( 5 pin DIN ) • 1 x Balanced stereo line out ( ¼” TRS ) • 2 x Balanced line out ( XLR ) • 2 x Balanced line in ( XLR ) For more information on the RME audio card please refer to the Audio Card page of this document.     Care Package What Care Package do I get with my d3? Training We want to make sure you put your newly purchased d3 system(s) to best use. As a new customer of d3 Technologies, you will receive a free 3-day training course at your premises for those in your company who will be working with the system. Your account manager will be in touch with you to discuss availability. You are also entitled to a one-day refresher course per year in the following two years of your machine’s warranty at one of our scheduled training days. If you are not a new customer to d3 Technologies, we can fit new or trained staff in with our structured trainings at no cost. Please contact your account manager to discuss your requirements. If you buy multiple machines as one of our rental partners, we can host training at your facilities whereby you can invite both staff and third party trainees. Support Product support is free with d3 as long as your machine is under warranty (3 years). d3 Designer comes with a free support package of a year, after which you can subscribe to a yearly care package.
