MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT ALWAYS wear approved respiratory, head, ear and eye protection when operating this machine. ACCIDENTAL STARTS! Before starting the engine/motor, be sure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position to pre- vent accidental starting. Place the ON/OFF switch in the OFF position before performing any service operation.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY USE PROPER APPAREL DO NOT wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties, rings, bracelets, or other jewelry that may be caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair cover- SECURE WORK Clamps or a vise should be used to hold work whenever practical. Keeping your hands free DO NOT OVERREACH Keep proper footing and balance at all times by not overreaching.

MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS Before using a power tool, check for damaged parts. A guard or any other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine if it would operate properly and perform its intended function. Always check moving parts for proper alignment or binding.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY SILICA DUST WARNING Grinding/cutting/drilling of masonry, concrete, metal and other materials with silica in their composition may give off dust or mists containing crystalline silica. Silica is a basic compo- nent of sand, quartz, brick clay, granite and numerous other minerals and rocks. Repeated and/or substantial inhalation of airborne crystalline silica can cause serious or fatal respira- tory diseases, including silicosis.

MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY ELECTRIC MOTOR SAFETY For maintenance care and operation of the electric motor, refer to your electric motor instruction book- let furnished with the electric motor. Protect the electric motor from dust as much as possible and keep ventilating openings clean.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS In order to prevent potential electrical shock and injury, the following electrical safety precautions and symbols should be followed at all times! WARNING In case of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric cur- rent to reduce the risk of electric shock.

MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY WARNING Use only extension cords that are intended for outdoor use. These extension cords are identified by a marking "Acceptable for use with outdoor appliances; store indoors while not in use." Use only extension cords having an electrical rating not less than the rating of the product.

MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY WARNING Use of undersized extension cords result in low voltage to the motor that can result in motor burnout and premature failure. MK Diamond warns that equipment returned to us showing signs of being run in a low voltage condition, through the use of undersized extension cords,will be repaired or replaced totally at the customer’s expense.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER SAFETY SAFETY LABEL LOCATIONS Safety labels contain important safety information. Please read the information contained on each safety label. These labels are considered a permanent part of your saw. If a label comes off or becomes hard to read, contact MK Diamond or your dealer for a replacement.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER BLADE INSTALLATION BLADE CHANGING / INSTALLATION CAUTION Blades are sharp. Handle with care. Failure to do so could cause bodily injury. • Dull blades greatly reduce cutting ability. Re-sharpen or replace as needed. • Proper blade size and placement per job type greatly affects performance.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER GENERAL OPERATION WARNING Do not operate machine around excessive moisture areas, such as abatement work and flooded pool areas without GFCI wall plug. Failure to do so could cause damage in machine or injury to operator. Before using the machine, check for any broken, worn or damage parts and replace them immediately.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER GENERAL OPERATION HANDLE ADJUSTMENT After the proper wheel adjustment is achieved, adjust the handle length. Simply loosen the thumbscrews located on the frame and the handle will slide up and down. Locate the most comfortable height and tighten the thumbscrews to lock the handle in place.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER BLADES BLADE USAGE Start with a narrow blade, then increase blade size to optimize cutting pass. Narrower blades work easier than wider blades and usually clean the floor better. Wider is not always better or faster. Proper blade size and placement, depending on material and sub-floor type, greatly affects performance.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER TYPES OF TEAROUTS REMOVAL MATERIALS Never remove flooring containing asbestos without fully understanding proper WARNING state and federal procedures and guidelines. • Sheet vinyl, solid vinyl, rubber tile, urethane or PVC sheet roofing, will need to be scored for best removal results.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER TYPES OF TEAROUTS SUBFLOOR SURFACES • WOOD: When working over plywood sub-flooring, try to run machine in the same direction as the grain in the wood. Blade in most cases should be bevel down. On solid wood floors, like plank, run in the same direction as the plank, not cross grain or cross plank.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER MAINTENTANCE THERMAL OVERLOAD PROTECTION The Thermal Overload manual reset switch is located on the bottom of the connection box of the elec- trical motor. If an extreme internal temperature is sensed, the switch will “trip” and the motor will shut off automatically.
MK-VTS/50 FLOOR SCRAPER MAINTENTANCE REPAIRS If your tool is damaged, contact MK Diamond for a return authorization number and return the entire tool. • Shipments are not accepted without a return authorization number. • COD or freight collect shipments will not be accepted.
