Q
: Do I really have to use the safe removal tool each time I want to turn off/disconnect
Q
my DataStor?
A
: Yes, we highly recommend that you use the safe removal tool. It is important because
A
if you are transferring data to the drive and you happen to forget it and you unplug the
drive or turn off the drive, it can cause serious harm not only to the DataStor but also to
your internal hard drive. However, for intermediate to advanced users you may want to
bypass this step by disabling the write cache. But remember, by turning off or removing
the drive while still it is being accessed can cause harm to the drive even with the write
cache disabled.
Q
: How do I use my DataStor?
Q
A
: Think of the DataStor like your internal hard drive except it is portable, so you can
A
carry it with you. Now, when you save data, documents for example, you can save it to
the DataStor rather than your internal drive. All you have to do is browse to it. For more
detailed examples and instructions on how to do a back up or transfer data, please view
the "How To" portion of this manual.
Q
: Why doesn't the DataStor work with Windows 95 and Windows NT?
Q
A
: The DataStor and other USB drives do not work with those two operating systems
A
because those systems do not support USB drives.
Q
: Can I use a USB hub with the DataStor?
Q
A
: You may use a USB hub if and only if it is a powered USB hub. A powered USB hub
A
is a USB hub that draws its power from a wall power outlet.
Q
: Can I daisy chain the DataStor to other DataStor drives?
Q
A
: No, there is no extra port on the Datastor for daisy chaining. In order to stack the
A
drives, you will need to plug each drive into a USB port of the host computer or a
powered USB hub.
Q
: Why doesn't my DataStor work with my computer?
Q
A
: There are numerous reasons why the DataStor may not be working with your
A
computer. Please visit
