RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL WARNING In case of poor weather conditions (rain, snow) there is a risk of injury due to poor visibility or slippery standing surfaces. Stop work if standing surfaces are slippery. Stop work if visibility is poor.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL CAUTION Noise emissions occur during operation of the hydraulic unit. Wear ear protection Switch the device off if unusual noises occur CAUTION Vibrations occur in the device during operation as a result of the cutting mechanism.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL 3.4 Emergency information / safety devices The specification of the Working Conditions Act must be observed when working with the machine. Persons who work with the machine are required to use their personal protective equipment as intended. In this case that means:...
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL Design and function 4.1 Design Figure 2 Overall design Description Couplers Blade guard Handles Start / stop lever Trigger lock Rail clamp The Rail Saws require a flow of 10 gpm (38 lpm) at 2000 psi (138 bar) for best performance. Use this tool on an open center hydraulic system only with a maximum pressure of 2150 psi (148.3 bar).
The SR-10-26-1 Model utilizes both a 14” diameter (350 mm) and 16” diameter (400 mm) cut off wheel. 4.2 Accessories and kits descriptions PortaCo, Inc carries a complete line of abrasive blades for cutting rail. The following abrasive blades can be purchased from PortaCo, Inc by calling 218-236-0223 or e-mail at info@portaco.com :...
The Rail Saw consists of the parts pictured in chapter Design and Function. The battery limit is the connection to the hydraulic unit. Power and auxiliary materials are not part of PortaCo Inc´s scope of service. Other parts which are not directly part of the machine...
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL 5 Transport, assembly and dismantling The machine must be disconnected from the hydraulic unit for transport. For this purpose, the hydraulic unit must be switched off and the system depressurized. After that the hydraulic hose couplings can be detached. Then the machine can be transported fully assembled without being taken apart.
Using too thick of fluid may result in tool damage. The PortaCo G-18D55-53-W power unit is recommended for hydraulic supply. This unit is equipped with two 5 gpm/20 lpm circuits that can be combined for one 10 gpm/40 lpm circuits.

RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL Blade guard Inspect the blade guard and fasteners for damage. Repair any damage before using the tool. WARNING Do not operate tool without the wheel guard! Blade backups If reducing bushings are used in a blade’s mounting hole, check that it doesn’t protrude beyond the surface of the blade.
150 bar (2,176 psi). Measurements must be carried out at the minimum operating temperature by 10 °C (50 °F) of the hydraulic fluid. Warm the hydraulic fluid if necessary. The temperature of the hydraulic fluid must be limited to 60 °C (140°F). We recommend the use of the hydraulic units D-23, E-15, G-18, G-21, G-23 or G-31 from PortaCo Inc.

The pressure increase in uncoupled hoses left in the sun may make them difficult to connect. When possible after use, connect the free ends of the operating hoses together. Hose types Hydraulic hose types authorized for use by PortaCo, Inc. is as follows: Labeled and certified non-conductive Wire braided (conductive) Fabric braided (not certified or labeled non-conductive) Hose type 1: Listed above is the only hose authorized for use near electrical conductors.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL 6.2 Tool connecting procedures Stop the engine before connecting the tool and, or hoses to the power unit, and when switching hoses or tools. Turn the hydraulic on/off valve to the off position before starting the engine. Make sure all hose are connected for correct flow direction to and from the tool being used.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL 6.4 Rail clamp installation With clamping handle backed out so the clamping jaw is wide open, set rail saw base over the ball of the rail. Lower the marker arm. The marker arm indicates the location where the saw will make the cut.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL 6.5 Saw Mounting Holding the saw by the transport handle (1) with pivot arm hanging down (2), slide the exposed spindle into the clamp’s mast (3). Allow the saw to swing into a hanging position.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL WARNING Pressurized fluid escaping from a damaged hose can penetrate the skin and be injected in the body causing injury or death. CAUTION Do not pull on hoses to drag power unit or tool.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL CAUTION Sparks are generated when cutting rail or steel. These sparks could create a fire. Direct sparks away from flammable materials and the operator. 6.8 Disconnecting Hoses 1. Stop the hydraulic power source.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL Maintenance Proper, on schedule maintenance increases the service life of the machine, ensures availability and helps prevent unwanted standstill. The components of the machine are subject to different maintenance intervals depending on the use. The maintenance intervals must be determined by the system operator as part of the hazard evaluation and risk assessment.
Repairs to the machine may only be carried out by the PortaCo Inc. or personnel who have been specially instructed. Additionally, work on electrical system parts may only be made by electrical specialists.
RAIL SAW SR-10-26-O & SR-10-26-1 ORIGINAL OPERATION MANUAL Shutdown and re-commissioning The machine can be shut down for a usual maintenance period without any additional risks. No special maintenance or conservation work is necessary. After a shutdown, a visual inspection must be carried out before a restart.
