FS200/FS209 CUTTER DRUM ASSEMBLY CARBIDE or STEEL? When configuring your cutter drum for removal, one of the most important questions to ask is: “Which cutter type do I use, carbide or steel?” Tungsten carbide will produce a smoother surface finish if set up properly: without spacers, in an offset pattern. Professionals use SMITH’s Ultra-Premium tungsten carbide cutters to save time and money. NOTE: Only SMITH Brand Ultra-Premium Tungsten carbide is the most cost-effective cutting tool and lasts up to 25x longer than conventional cutters while removing 5x faster on asphalt or concrete.
FS200/FS209 MACHINE START-UP Do not start machine while drum is in contact with the ground. Doing so can cause the operator to lose control of the machine, resulting in property damage and/or personal injury. 1) Open the fuel cock on the gas tank and then place the throttle lever at the “Fast Idle” position. 2) Start the engine, open choke slightly to prevent flooding. 3) Move throttle control to open or run position when engine is warmed up.
FS200/FS209 Transporting During transport, loading and unloading of the scarifier by means of lifting devices, use appropriate slings, or hooks on the lifting points, provided for this purpose. The load-carrying capacity has to be sufficient and secure such that they cannot turn over. Make sure that no one is endangered by the machine turning over. When being transported on vehicles, precautions have to be taken that the scarifiers are secured and do not move. SUBSTRATE REMOVAL Adjust the height of the cutter drum with the Depth Control Lever. Set the depth of cut to allow the cutters to go through only the materials to be removed. Make certain the the drum is positioned to where only the cutters strike the surface, and that the drum assembly never comes into contact with the substrate.

Maintenance Checks According to the conditions and frequency of use, scarifiers have to be checked f or safe operation at least once a year by skilled technicians, such as those found at the manufacturer’s service depots, and have to be repaired if necessary. ORDERING When ordering please specify the model and serial number of the machine.

FS200/FS209 Carbide Prep-It™ Strip Drum Assembly P/N: 8200.02 The rubber “Prep Strip™” drum comes preset with strips installed in a staggered pattern to ensure contact with the surface being stripped. The following guidelines will show you how to get the longest life out of your drum: • After installation, lower the drum slowly to begin contacting the surface. • Lower only enough to contact the surface and do the job. • Excess pressure only increases wear, not cutting speed. • Run engine at moderate speeds.

FS200/FS209 Cutter Set-Up SPECIAL TUNGSTEN CARBIDE MILLING SCRAPER MILLING SCRAPER USE INSTRUCTIONS: Milling Scrapers (CM2535™) are not made for cutting into portland cement surfaces. They are made for removing materials in or on soft asphalt or removing thick film coatings on top of smooth concrete surfaces only. If you need to cut concrete, please use SMITH’s Ultra-Premium tungsten carbide spike cutters (CF2515™ and CF2516™). Make certain the special milling scrapers are loaded on the drum in the proper direction, whereby the leading carbide edge will cut first.
