2.7 Symptoms of High or Low Blood Glucose

Being aware of the symptoms of high or low blood glucose can help you understand your test results and
decide what to do if they seem unusual. Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia may include, but are not limited to
the following symptoms:
• High blood glucose (hyperglycemia): increased thirst, frequent urination, blurred vision, drowsiness, and/
or unexplained weight loss.
• Low blood glucose (hypoglycemia): anxiety, shakiness, sweating, headache, increased hunger, dizziness,
pale skin color, sudden change in mood or irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, clumsiness,
palpitations, and/or confusion.

WARNING
• If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, test your blood glucose. If your blood glucose result is
displayed as LO or HI, contact your healthcare professional immediately.
• The meter is designed to display blood glucose results from 0.6 to 33.3 mmol/L. If a result below
0.6 mmol/L or over 33.3 mmol/L appears on the display, call Accu-Chek Customer Care at
1-800-688-4578.
