Quick Start Guide

The K4u
is a four channel keyboard, mouse and stereo-audio switch. It allows you
to control up to four computers from a single keyboard and mouse. You can
connect any combination of USB, legacy Sun™ or PS/2 compatible computers and
control them from a USB or PS/2 compatible keyboard and a USB mouse.

Set the DIP switches

1. Connect a keyboard and mouse to the front panel keyboard (2) and mouse
ports (3). Alternatively, connect a PS/2 keyboard to the PS/2 socket (4).
Note: Only a USB mouse is supported for use with the K4u
2. Optional: Connect headphones or a headset to the Hot-Plug port (1).

Connect the Power Supply Unit (PSU)
Use only the PSU supplied with the K4u

The K4u
can draw its power from the supplied PSU or from a connected PC
depending on your connection requirements.
If connecting only keyboard and
mouse peripherals to the unit...
...use rear USB connections to power
the K4u+.
For best performance, always use the supplied PSU.

1. Use the USB cables supplied to connect from the USB ports on the rear panel

To connect to a PS/2 computer, connect one end of a Y-splitter cable into the

Note: Legacy Sun workstations (miniDIN connections) can also be connected.

will convert protocols automatically. Contact Amulet Hotkey for PS/2
and Legacy Sun cables.
2. Connect monitors directly to the attached computers (or zero clients).
3. Optional: Connect the 3.5 mm K4u
audio outputs (4) from the attached computers or zero clients.
