OVERVIEW System Overview This section describes the QuadraVista QF unit, its front panel buttons and LEDs, and rear panel connectors. A brief description of the functions of the front panel buttons is also given here. Front Panel The QuadraVista QF front panel has eight LED status indicators and eight buttons.

Rear Panel The rear panel of QuadraVista QF features three audio output ports, four computer input ports, the Console (KVM) ports, a USB control port, an RS232 control port, four USB 2.0 device ports, and the a/c power connector and switch.

QuadraVista as close as possible to the computers being connected. Plug the power cable into the power plug located on the rear panel of QuadraVista QF with the power switch in the off position. Connect the power cord to a grounded power supply. Connect all cables before powering on the QuadraVista.
Switch off the computer and disconnect the keyboard, monitor and mouse. Connect a USB port on the computer to a QuadraVista QF USB input port using a single USB A-B cable. For computers with PS/2 keyboard and mouse, connect both computer ports to a QuadraVista QF PS/2 input port using a PS/2 Y cable.
Connecting Audio The QuadraVista QF can be connected to external powered speakers or audio devices for audio playback from any of the connected computers or video/audio sources. Three different output connection options are available (see Figure 11): 1. 3.5mm analog stereo jack 2.

The default setting is off, which prevents any external control. Use a serial or a USB cable to connect a control unit to the RS-232 port (RJ 45) on the QuadraVista QF’s rear panel. To synchronize several devices, special “Y” cables are required.
DCP Control This mode allows direct control of a single QuadraVista QF by means of a control device, e.g. a computer. The control device can query and change the mode of the QuadraVista QF. QuadraVista QF responds to each DCP message sent by the control device with a DCP reply. This reply includes the values of all settings queried or set by means of the last message.

Test Pattern Video Mode Test Pattern video mode is used to check monitor quality (pixel errors, contrast, changes etc) or the functionality of the video output of the QuadraVista QF. Figure 43. It is recommended to program the preferred video modes for the connected signal source. Appendix D. Serial Cable Serial remote control of the QuadraVista QF requires a special adapter to connect a CAT5 cable the serial RJ45 port on the unit. This adapter is connected to the external serial control device (e.g. computer). A standard CAT5 cable is connected to the adapter.

Appendix I. Cascading QuadraVista QF Units The QuadraVista QF can be cascaded in order to display more than four video sources simultaneously on a single display. In this master-slave-system, any QuadraVista QF can be used as master or slave. One unit acts as the master unit. The console that has a keyboard, mouse and display or touch screen is connected to the output of the master unit.
