INDUCTION LOOP MONITOR and CALIBRATED TEST SET
The VENUE ASSISTANT is an induction loop receiver and headphone driver unit. In
addition, the VENUE ASSISTANT has been calibrated to indicate induction loop signal
strength, via an LED, to Australian Standard AS60118.4. The unit has been designed for use by
personnel responsible for the operation and maintenance of induction loop systems. The
induction loop audio signal may also be monitored directly via the supplied headphones.
The VENUE ASSISTANT has been designed for simple operation with only two user
controls; power on and volume.
Three LED indicators monitor the status of the unit. A green LED indicates the unit is switched
on. A red LED indicates that the battery will soon require replacement. A 2nd green LED
indicates that a 0dB, AS60118.4 field strength signal has been detected.
The VENUE ASSISTANT has been calibrated to Australian Standard AS60118.4 (2007)
field strength and frequency response requirements.
Although the VENUE ASSISTANT receiver is supplied with light weight headphones,
other headphone types may be connected if desired.
OPERATION:
The VENUE ASSISTANT should be clipped to a belt or placed in a shirt pocket. The
VENUE ASSISTANT should be used in the vertical position for best reception.
The VENUE ASSISTANT has been designed to allow the set-up and maintenance of
induction loop power amplifier drive levels. The VENUE ASSISTANT is placed in the
pickup area of the induction loop system (held in the vertical position). The output level of the
induction loop amplifier is then increased until the green calibration LED just alights. The output
level of the induction loop power amplifier should be adjusted to the minimum level that makes
the VENUE ASSISTANT calibration LED light on peak audio passages.
