1 About this manual This document is the original operation manual for the Rail Saw SR 310 H of PortaCo Inc., 1805 2nd Ave N, Moorhead, MN 56560 The Rail Saw is used for cutting rails which have already been mounted. Rails can be cut from a standing position with the Rail Saw.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 2 General This chapter contains basic information about the machine and is intended to provide an initial overview. 2.1 General information Rails which have already been mounted to the track can be cut with the PortaCo Inc. Rail Saw. For this purpose, the Rail Saw is mounted to the track.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 2.3 Environment requirements 2.3.1 Operating requirements The machine is designed for use on construction sites outdoors. It can be used at temperatures between -20 °C to 45 °C respectively -4 °F to 113 °F. The temperature of the hydraulic fluid should be at least 10 °C respectively 50 °F.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 3 Safety 3.1 Basics The machine corresponds to the generally recognized standards of technology and practice. Nevertheless, knowledge of the residual risks as well as general knowledge of the device is required to ensure safe and accident-free work.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL Symbol Meaning DANGER indicates a hazard with a high degree of risk, which when it is not avoided results in death or DANGER serious injury. WARNING indicates a hazard with a medium degree of risk, which when it is not avoided may result in WARNING death or serious injury.

RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL DANGER The bursting of hydraulic components and uncontrolled whipping of the hydraulic hoses is possible. Only use the machine within the prescribed limits. Before disconnecting the hydraulic couplings, make sure that the pressure is relieved.
Page 12
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL WARNING As a result of the cutting process, particles may be slung away from the cutting disc. Wear the prescribed personal safety equipment! Never use the machine without the protective cover and spark barrier.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL WARNING In case of poor weather conditions (rain, snow) there is a risk of injury due to poor visibility or slippery standing surfaces. Stop work if standing surfaces are slippery. Stop work if visibility is poor.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL Furthermore, operators should possess the necessary physical and mental capacities which are required to operate and service the machine. The operating personnel must wear personal protective equipment according to the job at hand and dangers of the environment.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 4.2.1 Hydraulic fluid The hydraulic fluid should meet the following requirements. Criteria Value Viscosity (at 10 °C / 50 °F) 95 cSt Viscosity (at 38 °C / 100 °F) 27-42 cSt Viscosity (at 60 °C / 140 °F)
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 5 Transport, assembly and dismantling The machine must be disconnected from the hydraulic unit for transport. For this purpose, the hydraulic unit must be switched off and the system depressurized. After that the hydraulic hose couplings can be detached. Then the machine can be transported fully assembled without being taken apart.

RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL Commissioning and operation 6.1 General information for start-up DANGER Incorrect operation of the machine or disregard of safety instructions may lead to endangerment of persons or damage to the machine. Familiarize yourself with the complete instruction for use before beginning work on the machine.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 6.2.1 Mounting onto rail 1. Mount the rail clamp on the rail. Ensure that the clamp is in full contact with the rail. Figure 7: Mounting the rail clamp 2. Mount the Rail Saw on the boom of the pedestal.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL 6.2.2 Saw operation 1. Mount the Rail Saw on the track. 2. Clean the quick couplings. 3. Connect the Rail Saw to the return of the hydraulic unit. 4. Connect the Rail Saw with the flow of the hydraulic unit.

RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL Maintenance Proper, on schedule maintenance increases the service life of the machine, ensures availability and helps prevent unwanted standstill. The components of the machine are subject to different maintenance intervals depending on the use. The maintenance intervals must be determined by the system operator as part of the hazard evaluation and risk assessment.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL Troubleshooting 8.1 General information for troubleshooting and repairs Targets of the troubleshooting are: to find and evaluate causes for malfunction initiate measures to solve malfunction fix malfunction and restore operational readiness Repairs to the machine may only be carried out by the PortaCo Inc. or personnel who have been specially instructed.
RAIL SAW SR 310 H OPERATION MANUAL Shutdown and re-commissioning The machine can be shut down for a usual maintenance period without any additional risks. No special maintenance or conservation work is necessary. After a shutdown, a visual inspection must be carried out before a restart.
