2. Clamp the red wire to the positive (+) terminal and the black wire to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Do not reverse these positions. 3. 3. Pull the recoil starter until you feel compression. 4. Stop pulling. 5. Clean exterior of the generator and apply a rust inhibitor. 6.
