The owner, manager and/or operator is responsible for safe, accurate operation and maintenance of the SPK-6 Broadcast Hooded Retrofit Kit.
  • Page 3 Mounting Hoods If you will leave the Redball Broadcast Hoods on when you spray with your machine nozzles, mount the hoods rearward of the machine’s spray nozzles enough to clear the spray pattern. This is usually about 12 inches from the machine’s nozzles to the front face of the hood curtain.
  • Page 4 Hoods need to be mounted so the nozzle body tip inside the hood is the same height as the machine’s nozzle body tip. Ideal spray height is achieved when the front curtain lower edge touches your target height. The rear curtains are longer and drag on the crop to provide a seal for the management of spray drift.
  • Page 5 Move the finished hood assembly to the rear of the machine. Position the hood assembly at the distance back that you want the hoods to be from the machine’s nozzles. Review the back of the machine to find the best location to make your adapters. The hood mounting kits can be positioned at each hood joining area and positioned from side to side to find the best location for your adapter.
  • Page 6 For example: This is the center boom of a John Deere 4030/4038/4045 self-propelled sprayer. A good mounting location for the hood adapter bracket has arrows pointing to them. You could cut a piece of 2 x 2 x1/8 wall tubing and weld it to the adapter plate that was sent with the kit, and then weld the tube to the flat area where the arrow is pointing.

    SPRAYER REDBALL-HOODED SECTION On some machines, the Redball hood section may extend wider than the booms in the transport position. It may be necessary for you to add additional hazard warning lights. Also check that the SMV sign is still visible on the machine after your hoods are mounted.
