eSATA External Storage Chapter 1 — Introduction FEATURES Your eSATA external storage is an external storage of 19 inch rack-mount type using a Serial ATA (SATA) interface. eSATA External Storage 2. Open the handle of the hot-swap disk drive bay forwardly and pull it out of the unit. 3. Fix the SATA hard disk drives on the hot-swap disk drive bay by connecting the volts to the sides of the hot-swap disk drive bay.
User’s Manual RAID INITIALIZATION RAID should be initialized if the installed hard disk drives are unused one. CAUTION: If any used hard disk drives are installed, saved data on the hard disk drives will be erased. You can check the status of RAID and installed hard disk drives on the front LCD. If the hard disk drive status is Fail, the LCD displays Degraded and you can replace the hard disk drive and proceed RAID rebuilding.

eSATA External Storage 3. Connect the power cord to the unit and to the wall outlet and turn on the power switch on the front panel. 4. Check if the Active message is displayed on the front LCD. 5. Turn on the DVR system. CAUTION: Make sure that the power switch of the unit turned on before turning on the DVR system.
User’s Manual Chapter 3 — Configuration RAID CONFIGURATION Set up the RAID level. The RAID5 4d mode is default and you can change the RAID mode by Configuration Utility. CAUTION: Changing RAID setting will erase saved data. 1. Open the right cover of the front panel by using the enclosed door-lock key. User’s Manual Data Data RAID1 The system saves data on two hard disk drives simultaneously. It prevents data from being lost even when one of the hard disk drives fails. It enhances the data stability by replacing the failed hard disk drive and proceeding RAID rebuilding while decreasing the capacity to the half.

eSATA External Storage Data RAID0+1 The system saves data on four hard disk drives by using both RAID0 and RAID1 level. It saves data across the two hard disk drives and the same data on the other two hard disk drives simultaneously. It prevents data from being lost even when one or two on which different data is saved of the hard disk drives fails.

User’s Manual RAID5 The system saves data across two or three hard disk drives among three or four hard disk drives and the same data on the other hard disk drive simultaneously by turns. It prevents data from being lost even when one of the hard disk drives fails, and enhances the hard disk drive speed and the data stability at the same time.
eSATA External Storage Data RAID REBUILDING When one of the installed hard disk drive fails, replac e the hard disk drive with new one and proceed RAID rebuilding. NOTE: RAID rebuilding is not supported for the RAID0 level. 1. When one of the installed hard disk drives fails, the beep sounds and RAID error LED blinks. Open the right cover of the front panel by using the enclos ed door-lock key and press the Mute button to release the beep.
